Help from KEV E55

I have a '01 Mercedes CLK430 with 19,000 miles and a new 300C on order. I see that you have a E55 also. I would have to give up my CLK430 to get the Hemi. I was wondering how you felt about that trade off since you have both Benz & Hemi. I have a buyer for the Benz, but he is offering a few thousand below what I wanted. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll answer for him. His wife drives the E55. HE drives the Hemi. I think its pretty obvious which he prefers...

I sold my Audi private party. You will get raped on a trade in. Have patience, sell your car private party, get what you want for it.

Would it make you feel any better about losing your Benz if I told you atleast 3 of the people that come up asking about my car are S500 owners considering selling and getting one? I've also encountered 2 BMW 740i owners that said the same thing.

Yes, it sure does. I have a buyer that is making me a reasonable offer (not great). I think I will take it. Which Audi did you have? I guess I am having trouble because the Benz has only 19,750 miles on it and it is a great handling car. I'm afraid I will miss that and the quality of the car!!!
Thanks for the response. You guys are great.

Naw - Ol Lady drives the 300C! I drive the E55 and Magnum RT. I just broke the Magnum in today (300 Miles) and I have started to hammer it - it does not kick-down and move out like the E55 even with only a 9 HP difference. The Hemi needs some more muffler growl.

So JJD, parting with your CLK is going to be hard. The CLK has the best resale percentage of all Mercedes I believe, but no matter how much a car is worth you have to find someone willing to buy it. I tried to sell my 98 E430 for 10 months and finally traded for a lose. Take the best offer you can find as long as it is more than you can get from a dealer or CarMax. Good Luck.

I had an A4 2.8 quattro on 18x8.5 wheels. It was a nice zippy canyon cruiser. Had a lot of fun pushing the limits of the quattro system. While I do miss the tight sport suspension and pushing the limits of the tires through the turns, I had the car for over 6 years. I knew every ounce of what it could and couldnt handle. I have yet to explore those limits with my 300c yet on the turns. I am still gaining confidence through the turns, and learning shift points etc. Its the learning process of a new car I guess. I'd like to take it to a parking lot sometime soon and reach those limits, so I know what the car can and cannot do. I am not used to RWD any more, so the feeling is a bit unnerving to a AWD driver. I don't think you would be dissapointed however. It takes a while to get used to any new car.

For what its worth, I took the 300c on a canyon run up topanga canyon in malibu, which is known for its severe twists and turns. I was pushing the limits slightly, and my brother in law was getting sick to his stomach. Not a single squeal from the tires.I love my car.

Wait until you get an offer you like, or a buyer you like. I found a buyer I liked, and was willing to negotiate because it would be less of a hassle in the long run. Good clean honest deal...

I just heard from my buyer just a few minutes ago. I earlier agreed to his offer and he wanted to pick up the car in an hour. Being in the middle of the my business day, I couldn't leave. He was to pick it up first thing in the morning.
His call stated that he bought another car, just like mine, from the dealer after he spoke to me!
I guess it wasn't meant to be!!!!!!
