2012 Chrysler 300 Emissions Recall M30

2012 (LD) Dodge Charger
2012 (LX) Chrysler 300

NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with an 8 speed automatic transmission (sales code DFG).

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and Transmission Control Module (TCM) on about 66,530 vehicles may have been inadvertently programmed with software that may permanently set an internal temperature too high diagnostic code or not run the position valve stuck diagnostics. The internal temperature too high diagnostic fault can cause permanent Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Failure to run the position valve diagnostics can allow an improperly operating position valve to go undetected and fail to illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) as required by regulation.

The PCM and TCM must be reprogrammed (flashed).

Repair Time = Approx 25 min

I just received my notice of recall for this on 10/22/12. Made an appointment for Monday at the dealer. This is for the M30 recall which is different from some other 8 speed trans recalls.

I had the M30 recall done on my German-made ZF 8-speed a week ago. It took about 30 minutes. Flashing the TPM & PCM changed - improved - the shift between 1st and 2nd. It shifts smoother.
