mpg tune would be best as long as the tune is 89 or lower octane rating as unless you have mapquest show what octane is available you may not have 91 or higher available.

So the MPG tune is for 89 octane and less huh? I was not aware of that. I can find 90 pretty easily I would think.... Definitely 89 and lower...

I'm not sure if the mpg tune is 89 or less but that's what I would think. I don't have the intune myself I have the older model. I would look in the manual to make sure. if that is the case then I would go with that option.

Thanks. I don't mean to sound lazy. I have just been couped up at "places I don't want to be" if ya know what I mean and I was bored. I know I could have waited until this weekend to get my answer when I got home but...... I was about to go crazy. I guess I am sort of grasping at things to ask because I don't have the knowledge or advice to give about our cars.

No worries. I'm the same way. I love to help but I only know so much. I will always let ya know what I would do. I work 2 jobs and post a question about the car and most times I get my answer before I get home to try and figure it out myself. Gotta love this fourm! Let me know if you find out the answer to the mpg tune octane rating. I'm interested to know the answer.

Actually I'm on the MPG booster tune right now for the first time. Tuned it just before leaving on a 100 mile trip for the holidays. Not a fair comparison because I hadn't reset my average MPG in my EVIC in a long time and I've been doing a lot of city driving... and hard driving. And I'm comparing that to 200 miles of strictly highway driving only... but I picked up 8 MPG average.

Again, not a fair comparison. I've got a lot of city driving ahead and I plan to keep this tune in for the winter I think, so I'll see where the MPG average balances out to see if there is a long term improvement.

Oh, and as far as octane rating, I'm pretty sure the MPG booster tune said it was 87 octane... yes 87. Which I wouldn't recommend for our cars... I wouldn't go lower than 89 which is recommended. I just added some more 93 anyways - I figure that I'm used to paying for the 93 anyways... if the 87 MPG booster tune gets more miles out of my 93 octane fuel, then I'll be happy with that savings.

I have to agree. I would never run less than 89 octane in my ride. I think most people look at price and not how many miles they can get with a better octane. If it burns better its worth it! I'm sure that mpg booster will help get the most and with 89 or better you won't be dissapointed! Thanks Kyle!

Ok so I finally got around to messing with my Intune a little more today even though I chose a VERY cold Iowa afternoon.
I managed to change the shift firmness but it only gave an option to increase or not so obviously I increased. I cannot tell a difference but I was not able to drive it hard or get it out on the highway with our snow covered roads.
There was an option to change the axle ratio.
Anyone have any experience with that?
What is the "Throttle"?
I went through the manual for my Intune but honestly its not that in depth.
I am just afraid to make adjustments on something I don't know much about.

Snowy as hell here as well. I'm sure the shift will be firmer but wait till a good day to test.
as far as axle ratio leave that alone unless you upgrade the gears. Let a pro change that. Not sure about the throttle part.

Rochester, NY correct?
Do you use your Tranzformer year round with all the snow you get there or do you have it set to turn on and off?
Yes... Still thinking about getting one..
Thanks for the advice.. I was thinking the same thing about the axle ratio also but it just seems so strange that it has different gear ratio settings almost as if you can make the ecm think you have different gears then what you have.. More for fuel economy then power of course.
All strange. Quite a few settings in it.
The throttle setting was a dial the had a +/- and it was set directly in the middle when I checked it.
Another curious parameter.

Yes snowy Rochester NY lol You know all about snow I'm sure my friend.
I have the tranzformer installed year round but its off for the winter. I only turn it on when I do a little racing. As far as the throttle setting I would guess its for increased throttle response and until we can
figure it out let it be. Maybe if you throw it in search a thread may come up with post of all functions explained for us.
