Yes, buy a tuner even if you don't plan to race. Especially since you already have an intake and catback. As far as which one to buy, its a no brainer - Diablosport. The Predator is their most common, but it's older and no longer supported. So you can get their InTune or Trinity. They basically have the same tuning abilities, but the Trinity has some added in car toys to play with. Love my Trinity!
Advantages? Many. Read up on Diablosports site. In short, it will really wake up your car. No more sluggish shifts, better throttle response, etc. And they come with built in "canned" tunes - which is all I have ever used, aside from some parameter adjustments. If you do ever want to go bigger, you can use it to start data logging and getting custom CMR tunes done.
As far as the 180 tstat, its a quick easy cheap upgrade. These engines tend to get heatsoaked, so keeping the operating temperature down is a good thing. You can replace your stock tstat with a 180 (I use a Jet 180) and then use the tuner to adjust your fan settings so that they will kick on at a lower temperature and take advantage of the lower tstat.
In the end, you have a CAI and catback. Spend the $20 on a tstat and decide if you want an InTune or Trinity. Then ask Santa for it. When it arrives, plug it in and have some fun. You will not regret it - guaranteed.
