New software update from dealer = AWESOME!

Hey guys,

I took my 12 SRT back to the dealer to given them back their stock wheels painted satin black they wanted $1800 for!!!!! (*******s)

I complained about an exhaust leak, yet to be fixed, a diff clunk, yet to be tested and a diff whine at 50 mph on a trailing throttle, yet to be tested. I was also getting 'CLEAN' flash up on the screen in the center of the dash....this had them puzzled.

He hooked up the cable to a laptop and did a download of new software settings.

He went for a spin to ensure the new wheels TPSM's synch'd with the car.

Came back, said I need to come back when they are back from Xmas holidays to fix the other problems.

I drove off.

Noticed the car felt different.

better.

the stumble and surge it had at take off, a bit like 'VANOS' or 'VVT' when you feel the cams come on and the power jumps...that had gone, now it was just a constant pull from the lights, more diesel power surge.

I noticed too coming hard round some corners that the traction control has been calmed down, you can get the car sideways a bit before it takes over, its like its not on its training wheels now....

Also as its summer here and we get very hi temps, I notice in heavy traffic the second fan comes on at 95 degrees C where as before it would come on at 105 !!!

All in all its a marked improvement to it over all...im truly blown away by just tweaking an ECU can change a car so much..amazing!!

It did...thats the lag or stumble I was talking about, it dips then goes...thats gone now...its a far more linear torque curve feel.

Complain to the dealer, say you heard there's a new download available and get them to load it.

I also only run 98 BP in mine. Shell = SH!T too!

Does the paperwork give you any info on what was flashed or what the flash was? Sometimes you need to make a specific complaint in order to get updates. Knowing what that was would help. What you describe, to me, sounds just like what I would expect if you put your car into 'track' mode.

yep, I'm happy as. Not much mods as yet. I may leave this one pretty much standard. So far it's AFE CAI and Trinity tune. I'll put in a forward camera when I install the lockpick next week as well as the 180 thermostat. Knowing me tho time will tell if I can resist being bitten by the modding bug. lol.

So how the cold air and trinity worked out did you get a dyno run before and after ?
Has there been any side effects ?

I have ordered a are CIA trinity and magna flow cat back from the states, can't wait to see the improvement

Did you turn off the mds? Did the fuel economy get worst

Where did you get the thermostat

Cheers Andrew

Didn't get the car dyno'd. No adverse side effects that I've noticed. I would say the gains aren't nearly as exaggerated as I noticed on the old 5.7, but it's still worth doing, imho. I haven't tried turning off the mds yet but I did a few years ago on the 5.7, certainly the fuel economy was worse as a result, but you'd expect that otherwise there'd be no point at all to the mds.

I got the thermostat from Speedlogix.
