Ported Power Performance/B&G Flashes - An alternative to a tuner

Dave Kasper up in Michigan has been causing quite a stir on other forums with his flash of one's ECM to increase performance and enhance driveability.

We're fortunate to have one of own as a supporting vendor for this fine performance product. XCITSNU, Jeremy Stein, owner of Ported Power Performance, can not only make the process of owning a B&G-flashed ECM much easier for you, he'll save you money in the process. That's a true win - win proposition.

Here is Jeremy's contact info:
Jeremy Steinman
POWER PORTED PERFORMANCE

performance@powerported.com
859-816-1824

Contact him and he'll make things happen. Jeremy can help with any number of performance enhancing mods, including heads and cams.

If you would, post up your questions and comments here, and we can all work together at getting educated about this alternative to a superchips tuner (about the same price as one, and going higher, depending on your needs). I expect that Jeremy will be doing most of the heavy lifting with regard to answering your questions and getting you hooked up with one.

Here are some existing URLs from our neigbors over at LX forums. A review here will answer many of your questions:

Sure here's one......Do these tuner chips accomodate 89 octane for the 5.7L? And what kind of performance(Hp/Trq) can I expect on a stock car?

What if you have to take your car in for warrenty work?
Can you lose the flash or have it discovered by the dealer?

Bill, it's for that reason that I purchased a new ECM online - some have done so through their dealer if they had a good rapport with them. I sent the new spare in for the flash, not my primary ECM. It's a 3-minute job, 5 tops, to swap the ECMs out. I would simply swap the stock ECM back in for the dealer visit.

Not sure about A, Jimmy, but I'd strongly suspect a Yes answer. (I've invited EXITSNU, supporting vendor who sells the B&G flash, to this thread. Hopefully he'll fill in here.)

As for B, that has been the $64 dollar question. All so far who are using the flash are at least partially modded up. Next week at the Mods Face OFF, MFO5 in Sacramento (do a word search here and also over at LXForums.com for MFO5), a stock LX Hemi may be tested with the B&G flash. I haven't heard final details on that one.

Would like to know your thoughts. Thanks my friend.
Yes, Dave can pretty well dial for what you have there, Mark. I know that Bo seems quite pleased with his B&G flash. He'd be a great resource for specifics for you.

We are kind of in the same boat because there doesn't seem to be a specific flash available that takes advantage of the ported heads and performance cam we have. Did you not want the B&G flash to change the shift point or did they not have that ability?
B&G only flashes the ECM. Changing the tranny shift points requires flashing the TCM as well.

Will post before and after dynos pulls Sunday afternoon. This car is modded up a bit. But have final put some milage on the B&G flashed ECM. I do have a customer with a stock SRT8 that has a B&G II in for about 200 miles, we will be dynoing that one next Fri and will post before & after dynos also. Both car run and drive great, very good performance accross the board. Clean idles, great accelleration, clean full power shifts, and more RPM.

A special thanks to:

Meister, great write up. I ordered my spare ECU on Tuesday and will send it to Jeremy at PPP as soon as I get it, which should be today. Fixer, couldn't agree with you more. In the few communications I've had with Jeremy, the guy is top notch! Can't wait to get this B&G flash in and join the party.

The B&G Flash is already availble, Jeremy has suppied us with the II stage for one of my customers and we made an additional 31hp and 40lb torque. WE just dyno the car this morning @ 8:30. COntact TYPE0149 for the news. I let him tell all now.

Contact Jeremy @ Power Port Performance for any other information, he is a Supporting Vendor on this site and a great guy to work with.
