Is this how the Airaid Intake is suppose to work?

Ok, i just got my Airaid from Wycoff (Came a day earlier) and after using it, im a little happy and dissappointed.
First off, the installation was like 10 minutes and very easy.
Now, when i tested it, it sounded funny.
Ok, the only time I hear the deep tone is when im between 3000 and 4000 RPM's. Once I pass 4000 RPM's, it sounds like a stock air filter, it goes completely silent.
Is that the case with all the intakes, or is something worng with mine?

NautcaSprt6,

Should growl all the way through the powerband. Sounds to me like you might have a leak. Make sure all of the connections are "tight".

JFF Hit it I think, my Volant got meaner the more you put your foot in it and it was very progressive. Try a search for the Airaid, I know a few members have them, if you locate one try a PM to see what thier experience is if no one with this intake chimes in.

Should growl in proportion with the throttle postion as far as I know, mine does. Something is wrong me thinks. Does the engine act at all starved for air over 4k rpm? Wondering if something is pulling closed over the main intake pathway...

I have the Airraid intake and I hear the growl anytime I accelerate.. Once I am cruising at a normal speed, 70- 75 it tends to quite down.. The need for more air is not needed and in turn normal aspiration.. Sounds like I know what I am talking about hugh.. It just sounded right.. I still do have my air silencer on, if that makes a difference.. I am also running the Borla System

I have an idea, but dont know if it will work.
What if I left the Airaid system on, but changed the air filter to a Mopar or Volant cone shape.
Would that work?
You think that would make a difference.
Maybe there is a defect on the Airaid Air Filter.

The only difference between the Airraid and the other systems is the actual intake tube.. Airraid uses the factory accordion tube and of course the other systems use a straight through intake tube, in turn the air flows through clean which in turn gives you more air faster.. Now it depends on how much horse power you have and the demands of your engine if you can use all of the extra air and what kind of gains you are getting by the extra CFM's.. Is the cost worth the extra 1 or 2 lost HP claimed? Without out the programming you are not able to fine tune it anyway.. Just my 2 cents..

Did you remove the factory silencer? If not, then yank it immediately and you will notice much more sound.
It comes out easy, but you have to take it out from beneath the car. Will take another 20 minutes...
