Question Running Temp?

Finally got a 200mile trip in the car. Man, does this thing eat up highway! Got into some friendly comp with a vette on a GREAT twisty highway. (Taconic Pkwyfor you New Yorkers). We were going beter than 100mph for some extended parts, through high speed bends, ups and downs, etc. Driving hard like that, I noticed the temp went as high as 242!.. It settled once I backed off, but I thought that was awfully warm. I'm running a Jet Stage1. What's the story onllower temp thermostats? Something I should consider,or is that temp normal under hard driving conditions?
