Now Taking Names For SuperChips' tuner!

Hum... thought I posted this in here earlier

Superchips is working on a tuner for the 5.7 and 6.1 versions of the 300, Magnum and Charger. They expect this to come out between February and mid-Spring as their Flashpaq. We've had alot of customers asking about this product so it is now listed on our website. We are currently taking customer names that are interested in receiving one of the first that become available. You can get on this list by sending an e-mail to tbyrne@tbyrne.com. We will contact you with ordering info and introductory pricing as it becomes available!

Some benefits should include:

Improved Horsepower and Torque
Easy Installation - No Tools Necessary
Improved Fuel Economy
Optimized Drivability
Diagnostic Trouble Code Reading Capability

More info will be posted on our site as we receive it. Look for testing in our SRT-8 as soon as the product is available!

Can someone explain to me why this chip is supposed to supplement the designer(s) intent for this car. If Chrysler had a choice between "better, bigger, improved", "better fuel efficiency on one hand and "status quo" on the other, why would THEY not tune the car in a similar manner? What am I missing? The diagnostic code reading capacity is the only thing that seems to be a "plus" to me..

Someone please enlighten me..

Jay

Jaydee-

Excellent quetion. Mass produced cars are always a compromise, fuel economy versus power, comfortable smooth shifts versus optimum instant gear selection necessary to shave time off acceleration times, even something as simple as how smoothly a car idles.

Ever drive a real performance car? Something with a built V-8? It's lopey at idle, the clutch is heavy, the gear shifter is built for one purpose, or, if an automatic, the torque converter is MUCH different than a family car.

Our 300s are the same. Many would gladly trade the current mpg for sub 13 second quarter miles, etc.

These chips let you trade one thing for another, but, as you suspect, nothing's free, and not all would agree it's more "driveable" after the changes.

This is very true to a point. Computer tuning usually doesn't have a negative effect on driveability. Alot of times it will improve it by slightly changing the shift points and reducing/removing torque management.

Well I have been talking to one of the shops that is owned by Superchips in my area and they are going to probably use my car for a test vehicle and want me to give them some feedback once this product gets ready to go on the market. The reason that there is a delay in this product is because DCM is wanting $500,000 from Superchips for the rights to be able to access every corner of the computer. Once all of these legalities are worked over then the programming will begin!!! This is expected to happen really soon and I will let you guys/gals know any info that I am given.

Just to let you know that I am talking legit, the name of the shop is JMS Motorsports and it used to be located in Mobile, AL but it is now in Lucedale, MS of all places. They are sponsored by Roush Racing and Superchips, and are very good at what they do!!
