Void Warranty Issue Overblown

The general rule, under U.S. federal law, is that aftermarket items will only void the manufacturer's warranty for those manufacturer's parts that the dealer/manufactuer can prove were adversely impacted by the aftermarket items. Now, obviously, if you replace the OEM muffler with an aftermarket one, you have removed the OEM muffler from the vehicle so it is no longer covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Absolutely, a toilet roll oil filter or bypass system would only void the engine warranty, not the A/c or radio. Whenever I have talked about voiding a warranty it is for that system you have modified and only that system.
