Thumbs up Flowmaster Upgrade...

Kinda long story,,but quiet sound from performance mufflers gotten.
December 1995,I had removed my OEM mufflers, and resonators. Installed Flowmasters 40 Series..Sounded GREAT to me.
Fiance' had a little issue with the loudness, and the drone. After awhile, the drone got louder, so I added a 12" glasspack muffler to help "tone 'er down". This worked pretty good..for awhile. The drone was still there, not as loud ,but still there.
I spoke with a Tech at Flowmaster, he suggested I change the 40's out, and go with the Delta Flow 50 Series,
or the 50 Series SUV ( made for SUV,and big HP engines).
So, Today ( 3-16-06 ),after looking at pictures showing internal baffling, etc.,
I went with the DeltaFlow 50 Series...

50 Series Delta Flow - Three Chamber Mufflers
This is the latest design of the 50 series muffler that utilizes Flowmasters patented "Delta Flow"
technology along with an "H-Chamber" to eliminate most all interior resonance and
still have that famous Flowmaster sound outside the vehicle.

Constructed of 16 gauge aluminized steel and fully mig-welded for maximum durability.

Great move on my part ( hand patting ME on the back ). My "C" has a nice tone at idle,at WOT the HEMI comes alive
and has a good sound, at highway speed..No Drone of any scale, hardly noticable.
Fiance' thrilled death; Life is Good.

Pair of 40 Series Flowmasters for sale..LOL

i have a 2006 300C srt-8 and my bro has been on me to get flowmasters
i really don't know a damn thing about this and his exact suggestion was 50 series delta flow flowmasters with 21/2 pipes
if i'm reading this right, it appears to be exactly what you just did though not sure on all the details
can you give me an idea as a newbie to this performance stuff what i should do with my local muffler guy and approx cost to expect?

thanks man

You might want to go to the Flowmaster's Web Site, Read up on the different mufflers they have.
My biggest thing was to eliminate the interior drone at highway speed. At lower speed, such as accelerating from a stop sign or red light-there is a deep tone of POWER,but not overpowering LOUD.
With these mufflers,I have the performance I wanted, but without the resonation.
Cost was $250.00 for mufflers and labor.

i'm being quoted around $400 to install 50 series flowmaster with no resinators and using same pipe and tips
he thought my pipes are big enough and said i didn't need to change. wanted to go to 2 1/2 inch pipes which I guess without looking he thought i was already close to
did you install resinators? do you recommend or again is that just to dial down the "flop" noise

thanks for your help

Quote:"so I added a 12" glasspack muffler to help "tone 'er down".
And I left them in place ,even after I changed out for the Delta Flow 50 Series .
$400.00 sounds a bit much, but that may be due to locations. My garage did the whole job in an hour.
