magnaflow exhaust

hello
New member here. hope i am doing this right. Purchased new chrysler srt-8 in Feburary. This week installed magnaflow exhaust. PROBLEM--When installed with muffler hangers hanging straight down (on drivers side) bend in exhaust pipe rubs against spare tire well. When assembley is pushed forward to give clearance to tire well, hangers are at 45 degree angle (towards front of car) raising the tailpipe to where it is touching the rear bumber. not good. any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance

Bill:

If you have pictures please send them to me: rwaitas at magnaflow.com (@ for at minus the spaces) The tips can be within 0.128" and not pose a problem as the tip is a insulated double wall tip. This issue should be able to adjust out.

Is the tip hitting the bumper when the exhaust system is loose or when its
tightened and torqued up?

You have to make sure that when the exhaust is first put on, you have to leave
all the joints loose, so you can adjust the fit of the system to clear all
obstructions, and to line up the tips in the bumper cutouts.

Then, once you have the system all lined up, and all the clearances are
good all around, you have to tighten up the clamps from the FRONT of the
car to the back.

This way, you can make minor adjustments along the way if needed.

If your rubber hangers are not hanging down straight, that is not a problem.
On my Magnaflow system, the rubber hangers near the exhaust tips are not
straight down, but they are at about a 30 to 40 degree angle twards the
front of the car.

As long as nothing is touching anywhere, it does not matter if the rubber
hangers are straight or not. They are just there to suspend the exhaust
system from the body, and allow it to move as the engine and body move.

Try loosening up your system, adjusting it to where you want it, and
tightening up the clamps from the front to the back.

Also, you can use some pieces of wood, or whatever you have around, to
use as spacers between your exhaust, and the body/gas tank and all the
other things that the exhaust is close to, like the bar that is attached to
the underbody of the car up near the front.

By doing this, you should be able to keep a nice clearance around stuff,
and make the tips centered in the bumper cutouts.

Also, after about 100 miles or so, go back and re-torque the clamps just
incase some have come loose. Magnaflow, and all the other makers suggest
you do this in their instructions.

magnafowl exhaust

Thanks for all your replies. Took system to a nationally known muffler installer. Fixed the realignment problem in 15 minutes. First installer had mounted them incorrectly. No problems now and just LOVE the sound of the Magnaflow pipes
Thanks again
