BUY IT! No regrets here. Yes it may have added some horsepower and torque ( I used the 91 octane tune) but it DEFINITELY makes the transmission work like it should have all along. Best money I ever spent.

This brought the software for the ECM and TCM up to the most current versions, as required by Superchips. The actual upgrade took them about 2 hours, but was done under warantee...so no cost to me. I only noticed a slight improvement over the way it was previously though. I then took it home and loaded the SC 91 tune, and went for a ride. It definitely works better, shifts better and I now have the early build elusive "5". The SC tuner now works flawlessly, and I just checked and saw there were two more new software upgrades. Anyone know what they are? Should I leave well enough alone, or go for it?
I am curious what your TCM version is. I also have an early build, I had my PCM and TCM updated to the "latest", I have no 5 and the trans shifts like stock. I think the only difference is that I have updated my FlashPaq and you haven't, I wish I wouldn't have updated.......

Whatever you do don't update your FlashPaq!!

How are you trying to see the "5". If you down shift you will not see it, it is only upshifting that you will see the "5".

C4me and others,
Old ECM=04896415AC
New ECM=04896415AJ

Old TCM=04692390AC
New TCM=04692390AG

Like kenm says, the 5 is only there during upshifts. It will not let you go into too low, or too high a gear for a particular speed, i.e. it will not let you upshift past 4th while going 30 mph...but you can downshift all the way to 1st. Upshift pattern is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and D. Downshift pattern from D is, D, 4, 3, 2, and 1. In 5 there is no MDS operation. It will ONLY work in "D". If you're in autostick mode, say in 4th gear, and come to a quick stop or slowdown, it will automatically downshift to the appropriate gear, and you have to manually upshift again. If you're in autostick mode, and want to get out of autostick mode at slower speeds, I have found that letting off the throttle and a quick shift to "N" and back to "D" does the trick. Don't know if this is the correct way, but it works and seems to have no ill effects. Otherwise you'd have to accelerate to about 40-45 where it will allow you to shift into "D", or come to a stop and then shift to "N" and back to "D". The way it works now is the way it should work, IMO. Damn, I am lovin this!!!

My Flashpaq revision is 1.01, calibration revision 47. I understand there are a couple newer ones than that, but I don't know what they accomplish. Can anyone help on this???

I can't seem to find the 5 no matter what I try. As far as the manual mode, mine does not automatically shift down to 1st when I come to a stop like others have.

My current ECM 04896405AK and TCM 04896395AH, build date is 05/04

Cheers!

Obviously they changed the software between May and July 04, but it appears that you have had some updates for your build date.
Which manual mode are you using? My current settings, with some of my observations, are:
91 tune (significantly advances ignition timing at all RPM)
Transmission Custom Settings
-Reduce Torque Management (better throttle response)
-Paddle Shift Hold Gear (true auto stick 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and D operation)
-Raise Shift Points (really improves MDS operation and raises WOT upshifts to 6250 RPM, or any RPM that you manually upshift at)

I have tried custom settings with;
Reduce Torque Management
Paddle Shift Hold Gear
Raise Shift Points
-And-
Performance Transmission setting
Both with the 91 tune

Counting on the next SC update and possibly the ability to return tuner to stock (might work?).

I thought we were going to have the ability to try different tunes anyway, not just what was the latest on the FP site. Was that just me?

Cheers

We will be able to try different tunes. I've run mine on the 87 tune for a while, but I like it so much the way it is, I don't know when I'll try the other settings. I know I'll run a few tanks of 87 with the 87 tune just to see what happens.

On yours, C4me, I think I'd email Chris Wade at Superchips and let them know what yours is doing, and the differences between close build dates. I'd also bet that they're already aware of it and working on it. What is the latest update you downloaded from Flashpaq....version, and database revision number?

I also have the same problems you have, Try using Paddle auto shift and leave the rest like you have it, mines works in that setting. The weird thing is that while in "D" you can shift up by just tapping right, when you slow down it goes into a lower gear while still in 'D" but you can feel the difference!! I'm going back to the dealer to tell him to uddate the latest to see if I can get that elusive"5". By the way how can you tell which TCM you have??? I get the ECM with the F.P. but no TSB. Thanks
