Question Torque Converter mods?

I was wondering if anybody here has had their trannys upgraded with a high stall speed torque converter?

I used to have a Lexus GS400 and had a high stall speed lockup torque converter installed that raised the stall speed from 1800 rpms to about 3400 rpms if I remember correctly. That mod alone lowered my 1/4 mile and 0-60 times by a little over .5 seconds (signifcant), and the car felt at least 500 lbs lighter. It performed like a completely different beast, as I was eating Z-28's and Mustangs for breakfast. The torque converter was significantly smaller than the stock one and the casing was from a Chevy Cavalier, but the mechanicals were all high performance and designed for that Lexus trans. I remember the trans shop who installed it saying they never saw a torque converter that looked as bullet proof as the one I had installed.

Now I can almost guarantee that the torque converter mod would void the warranty on the trans, especially with Chrysler always looking for ways to avoid paying for warranty repairs. But for about $1300 installed, I couldn't imagine any mod that would increase performance in bang for the buck like a high speed torque converter.

Has anybody tried this with their 300C?

They don't make any aftermarket stall convertors for our trann yet. Keep in mind, the tranny is a Mercedes piece. Hopefully someone will come through for us down the road. By the way, I can foot brake my stock stall converter to 2200 RPM which is more than enough to overwhelm the tires right now.

That's ashame it isn't readily available yet. I would imagine though that a good trans shop could rebuild our torque converter to raise the stall speed. If you can foot brake your car to 2200 rpms before breaking loose, that would mean that the stall speed of your converter is at least 2200 rpms. That seems pretty high in a "C". I'll have to try that on my AWD to see if I can also achieve that high stall, but I'm guessing no as the stock one seems to lock up very early.
