GREAT write up! You should send the company those instructions to be sent out with all kits. The pics were excellent and very detailed. One of the best how to's I ever read. It reminded me of Dave's brake thread.

AWESOME! Very nice write-up and looks really nice

That is the exact look that I am looking for. One would think it would perform just as good as the others. Keep us updated on how you like it.

Tim, if you could, please PM me with price and where you purchased it.

Thanks,

Moose.

Z-man... not that I'm anything of an expert here, but most (if not all) conical CAI filters like this are "oiled" lightly to improve the efficiency of dust/dirt collection (my limited understanding). "Oiling" takes some skill and can be over-done (too oily?), which hurts performance (flow?) and in a worse case scenario (I think) get drawn into the intake or throttle bottle and foul things up (being not-so combustible).

Of course there is the valve cover breather tube connected to the intake tube AFTER the filter element, so perhaps the lighter oil vapors, or gaseous impurities it collects from any by-pass of the piston rings, are not a significant performance inhibitor.

Rambit... thanks! Since I posted this to their forum, it is my hope that some of my findings might make it into an evolution of the instructions they already provide... their pictures weren't quite as detailed, and were in black and white.

mebe... Yes, I would say we are still happy with the CAI. However, the car the CAI is on is my wife's daily driver, not mine... so I don't have a lot of SOP experience with it.

However, I did drive it to/from Chicago a couple weeks ago for detailing at Perfect Auto Finish by Gary Kouba (supporting vendor). I went up for only the day because my cousin was getting married up near Rockford.

I would say our experience is the same as the GIFOs and MFO5 have more or less proven... CAIs like this one on these cars provide a great look and sound, but not much, if any, power performance gains.

One BIG advantange IMO though, is that the filter is a "dry" filter... never have to oil it. That's got to eliminate some maintenance headache or worry about cleaning and reoiling (other filters) sometime down the road.

PimpJi... thanks! Glad you found it informative and readable.
