CAI Question

I've got a new CAI and I need the little donut that fits inside the tube so I don't ingest water if I should go through a deep puddle.
My problem is I suddenly drew a blank on the name of this to search for it.

Can somebody please help me.
Thanks

It's a bypass valve
I knew I'd remember it sooner or later.
Old age must be getting to me.
Thanks for your help guys.

Bypass valve?

I have one of those for my supercharger. Probably not the same thing.

A donut would not qualify AS a by-pass valve. However, eating too many could constitute justification FOR a by-pass valve (if you like the surgical stuff!).

Actually, I have no idea what you are talking about with regards to a donut device to prevent water intake to the CAI... do you have it (the filter) mounted below the facia in the space where the stock silencer was (or is)? I would think a donut would be restrictive to air flow and thus defeat the purpose of a more open CAI.

Maybe the donut is like a life ring. Just keep it handy in case you're in too deep . . .

Well gents there is a serious question on the table about a "widget" that stops water from entering the engine in the CAI.

I'm wondering the same thing. The Volant system has the "intake' tube (maybe 3" in diameter) behind the drivers vent to the side of the fog light. I have drilled out some 1.25" holds in the vent cover to let in air until I come up with a better solution.

Given this what is the chance of water getting into my engine through the intake?

Vent intake is 25"+ vertically below the filter box (approx), and then the water would have to get through the filter and into the pipe leading to the engine.

Should I be concerned? I don't know how much actual suction the CAI creates.
