mufflers and resontators

so i went to the shop today to ask how much it would cost to remove the resontators like evryone else has and he told me that i ment the mufflers. when he said that i got confused. i know what the mufflers are and i see they are gone as well, but then i wondered to people remove both and then just put on a nice long tip or what. can someone help me before i do something i regret.

not bein a jerk, but if ya search theres tons of pics and whatnot around here...but heres the info i think you're lookin for...

if you have the car on a lift, you'll see a big suitcase-lookin muffler (main muffler with cross-over piping inside it) then the exhaust runs to two other muffler/resonators (mufflers and resonators inherently quiet down the noise, so they're similar in function...the only difference i'd think between a muffler and resonator would be a muffler could have chambers like a flowmaster, instead of a resonator straight-thru style with padding around it) anyway...these 2 separate resonator/mufflers look like huge kidneys haha...and most people remove the 2 separate kidneys at the end and just add some pipe and tips...or you can remove the suitcase and connect pipe to the rear kidneys...all in what you wanna do...but if you remove both the suitcase and the kidneys...you'd be in for a monster but...some people live by the motto "LOUD IS PROUD"

hope that helps...happy exhausting!!
