SRT Exhaust on a 5.7......NOT!

With nothing to do today I went out in the garage and spent some time fitting the stock SRT exhaust to my AWD R/T.A bit of a PITA but not to bad. After fitting the 2.75" catback to the 2.5 Catpipes I took the R/T out for a test drive.Acceleration sounds great,so does normal cruise, but then it went into MDS!OMG,WTF?IT sounds horrible! The buzzing of the MDS is magnified so bad it sounds like a 125 dirtbike. If anyone is thinking of doing this don't unless you are going to get rid of MDS with a cam.As of now the stock exhaust is back on and staying there!

Just need to put your resonators back on is all.... OR.... keep it in autostick to defeat the MDS function.... easy solutions for the sound you want.

Thanx for doing all the pain in the A## leg work for me. I was seriously considering cannabalizing my friends srt8 exhaust. I put a thread out there about the headers, but then decided maybe I'll try the whole thing anyway. I guess I'll have to save a bit of coin and buy a corsa or something. Thanx for the heads-up!!

Kinda defeats the purpose of a larger exhaust.I'm not going to weld a resonator with a 1 3/4" choke down onto a 2 3/4" exhaust system.

MDS woes

sorry to hear about the waste of hard work.

Kinda makes me chuckle though. Factory spends a lot of time on those stock pipes, huh?

Wish I could remember the member who told me that SRT has the SAME exhausts, just a different diameter! Guess they really are different!

Holy crap…..major MDS drone. Sorry your hard work didn’t pan out for you, but thanks for being the guinea pig. That’s good to know as new members come in and ask exhaust questions.

I still say they are the same as the Daytona Resonators with bigger pipes feeding. The guy who's taking them has a Daytona so I guess we'll find out for sure.

This mod has been mentioned quite a few times on the boards. Good to see that someone gave it a shot. Now we all know what the result is!
