Went to lunch with my brother in Santa Fe today on the way back home I ran into 05 G35, 05 Mustang, and a Maxima 04 maybe 05 in that order; playing I'm not going to move over from the fast lane(speeds were near about +10 on 75). I was with the Mrs. so I just waited for a bit then put my signal to move over to the right to pass. As I pass by the Max and Stang the G35 punches it....this is the part I love, Mrs. says to me get em babe...I of course drop Jezebel down and proceed to smile as we both wave at the G35 as we pass Her. She gives us the international symbol...about 1 mile later my escort goes off at 4 bars Laser so I back Jezebel down to +5 over. G35 comes screaming by and sure enough New Mexicos' Finest are waiting for her over the hill. Smokey lights em up and proceeds to pull her over. Honked at her as I went by; couldnt help myself.

I got blown away on this one......

OMG I seen a mid to late 90's porsche turbo, he rolled up next to me and we went off the line, we were even through first, then when the shift came for him, he was gone, like one car length a second, I noticed he had "RUF" rims on the ride. I asked him if it was tuned by RUF, he said no but he bought it used and had some custom work done to it.

I said his car was killer, and he asked me if my 300 had the HEMI. I said ya, it's got a HEMI, he said those car are sweet and fast, I said thanks.

I went at it with a 2005 clk 500 the other night and man was I disappointed with the power in the benz v8. The first was from a stop light and I ate it up. By the time we hit 65 I had easily 2 or 3 cars on him. The run was on a much longer straightaway the clk got in front of me and punched it. When he floored it I was about two cars behind him. When I dropped the hammer his car seemed to stop accelerating and I just flew past him at speeds well above the posted limit.

I beat a 550HP Mustang last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, it was my neighbor. I saw him pushing his engine-less car up his driveway from the trailer....I pulled in his driveway and beat him to the door.

I began to flash my hazards so there was no mistaking.

He was pissed, ran inside the garage to do a ricer flyby.

I rock.

On the weekend, a 5 series Bimmer through the twisties, as reported in another thread:

Quote:
Dave, I followed your bedding process on Friday. I wasn't experiencing any real problems on my 300C other than the pedal feel was softer than I prefer.

It really works! Pedal feel is much better.

The real proof came on the weekend. A buddy of mine just bought a 2003 Porsche 911 cabriolet C4. We were detailing it on Saturday when I suggested he get to a track and do driver's school. I said I'd go as well to brush up.

Well, the next thing I know, 3 of us pile into my 300C (the Porsche was too small to hold us all) and we head up from Ottawa to LeCircuit at Mount Tremblant. The Rolex endurance series was already running and we wanted to see some of it. The drive normally takes 2 hours and the road up into the mountains is rough in places and has lots of tight twisties - more than a few, off camber.

The first section was freeway with the lazer lads out collect tax money. My buddy was complaining he should have taken the 911 - we're gonna miss the race - yada yada...

Off the freeway - on to the twisties - esp turned off - time to test the bedded in ceramic pads. As you know Dave, it's all about exit speed.

Hard into the corners; brake late - small drift to overcome understeer; power on coming out. What a blast!

We picked up a 5 series bimmer who climbed up our tail coming out of a village. then we hit the real tight twisties and whoop-de-doos. The last image I had of the bimmer in my rear view was him over the centreline frantically sawing his steering wheel - out of control.

My brakes were awesome. Hardly any fade, good modulation - I could predict the rate - and they never let me down.

We made the track in 1 hour and 33 minutes. the 300C really does need a grab handle for the front passenger. Got to watch those awesome Daytona Prototypes and the GT3 guys bang it out.

Thanks for the tip, Dave. You rock!

Take Your Car To The Track!
If you live in Ontario, Quebec, or the Northeastern U.S. and want to improve your driving skills, read on.

I have booked some spots with the Jim Russell Driving School at LeCircuit Mont Tremblant ( 45 minutes north of Montreal).

This is for a full day of performance driving instruction and experience using your own car. The morning will be spent on the skidpad learning the adhesion limits; avoidance maneuveurs; braking and controlled skids.

In the afternoon, you get to bring you car onto the track for some performance lapping. You will not be racing. Butyou will experience your car at speed with no lights, stops or police! Guaranteed smiles per miles!

The day is geared towards the novice enthusiast who wants to know their car better and improve their skills. We are set to go on June 7th, 2005. There are only 2 spots left.

If you are interested, here is the school web: http://www.jimrussell.com/en/courses.cfm?cId=4

Look at 1 day performance driving. Cost is $395.00 Cdn.

To book, contact them directly and please PM me, so I know the spot is gone.

Thats a long drive for me, I can't make a decision now but I might be in Montreal for the Grand Prix weekend although not 100% sure. Will keep you updated.

EDIT: Do you know what Year and engine was that 5 Series BMW? I don't expect you to know since the guy was in the rear view mirror But if that was a 540 or an '05 545 it would've been a different story.

At 325HP and 400lbs less weight, you're right about that.

I didn't really notice when I passed him coming out of the village. He had good acceleration coming up behind me, but the twisties did him in.

I suspect the problem was more the driver, rather than the car. As it was I had my hands full keeping mine pointed forward.

It would be fun if you could make it on June 7th, 350Z. the guys at Jim Russell put on a good performance school and we get some lap time in the afternoon.
