Superchips: Back to Stock - what dog!

I'm getting ready for my 6,000 oil change and tire rotation, so I set my Flashpaq tuner back to the stock setting. I plan on running 200 miles or so on it this way before getting it to the shop for work (overkill on my part, but I'd like to remove any "remnants" of the tune from the memory of the car's 'puter).

So I start it up this morning to drive to work, and it's just not right. I can't put my finger on it, but it doesn't sound as aggressive on open throttle, not as much pep, and shifting....well, unless you have used the shifter after a Flashpaq tune, it's hard to describe how much better it manually shifts (plus no more 5th gear lit up!!).

I can do the 200 miles...yeah, no problem. I won't go nutz before then. Nope. I'll be ok. But if you don't hear from me for a couple of days, send auto magazines to the PortlandStateMental Hospital!!

Gracias.....sniff, sniff.

Scott

My deepest condolences and wishing you a '' Speedy '' recovery . At least your giving them...........NOTHING....at the dealership . Sure beats hearing .....It's all your fault . How bout just putting it up on a jack with a cinderblock on the pedal to do your 200 miles for you .

Kings11 - when I returned my ECM to the factory software for the same reason, I was shocked at how the power, torque and drivability had slipped away.

BTW: instead of driving 200 miles in misery, just pull fuse 11 for 30 seconds. Your 'puter will lose all of its old memory.

Driving around for 200 mile would put me over the edge to. I barely make it through the day when de-tuned!

So what happens when you pull good 'ole fuse 11? What are the consequences? Does it have to re-learn everything?

I'm not sure I could make it 2 days much less 200 miles (arbitrary number of miles of course!).

Grateful,

Scott T

When you pull this fuse, any "learned" behavior is wiped out, such as more aggressive driving shift points. You do not lose seat memory positions, etc.

I always pull this before going on the track. Any slow, fuel saving behavior is wiped out and it soon learns the WOT power curve behavior of track driving.

my question is why on EARTH are you taking your baby to the dealer for an oil change? The kids at the local quickie lube can put the wrong oil in, underfill it, and strip out your drain plug JUST AS WELL for lots less money

I'm only half kidding here; change your own oil and you won't have any of these problems, you'll know what is in there, and you won't have to worry about the dealer spying on your computer. My car is 19 months old now and has NEVER been back to the dealer and never will unless I have to for a warranty repair. Even minor issues that should be covered I will take care of myself (such as my slightly sagging rear bumper fascia) rather than risk my baby's health by taking her to the dealer.

If you just plain don't want to do your own maintenance, you can have an independent shop do it and your warranty is fine as long as you keep records. The local businessman/shop owner is much more interested in your satisfaction than the Chrysler dealer's service department is.

I about gasped on your quicky-lube comment!! LOL

I'm actually checking out the service department at this dealer. Dealer #1 didn't float my boat and is about 70% higher in costs to do this. I need to find a dealer I trust for when I need their specialized service (warrentee or other such work).

Oh yeah, since there is a tire rotation, I didn't want to mess with that my self. Plus, I really don't like changing oil and dumping it. I'll pay the guys a few bucks to to that work.

Lastly, I do have a local independent rapair guy I use (right down my street). He's 100% trustworthy and has saved me a bunch of money and time over the years we've gone to him. I'll probably use him for regular oil changes.

Thanks for the quicky lube laugh!

Scott

Lol.. I hope all turns out well. I hate the feeling of driving my car after flashing it back to stock though once my tune is back in place it feels like a new car again, for free!
