Don't waste your time calling. As a matter of fact they might not call you back if you mention problem supercharger in the same sentence. They did it to me and i am tired of calling so i guess i will take mine off until they can get the issue resolved.

I sure hope there is no one out there "dumb enough" to even slightly consider buying a SC from GSM...

Guy- I am sorry this happened to you and I think you might be trying to be nice to GSM a little too much. Even after the ECU is cured and the air intake does not suck water anymore the fuel system design needs to be addressed. If you go through all the trouble to rebuild and ignore that fuel system it will blow again. Supercharged cars need a couple of key things to happen.

1- Timing to be retarded during boost.
2- Fuel volume to increase so fuel pressure stays at a stock rate or increases as boost builds.
3- A rev limiter doesn't hurt either.

This system in it's current state does none of the above.

I had the fantasy of installing the GSM supercharger too. I decided to wait untill the waranty was close to ending before making the final decision. (Owner since 6/04) However when HHP announced they would no longer sell the GSM supercharger because of issues and "their integrity" I changed my mind. (old old news) Unfortunately there are new owners every day who don't know the history of GSM's supercharger package. I'm sure the Superchargers are fine (and GSM too), and you can spin it all day on the bench with no issues. If it won't work on a car without grenading the motor who in their right mind would sell it to a customer? I actually am thinking were all going too easy on them. Only terrorists turn cars into bombs on purpose. Maybe thats harsh, but good golly, how many have to blow before its obviously not the owners fault? To sum up, my dad installed a paxton supercharger on his 61 VW bus to carry us 6 kids around and it did'nt blow. It was'nt special built. It took us to the worlds fair in 64 from Tennessee, and back! They need to put a disclaimer on the box. Not for use in computer controlled Daimler Chrysler cars or trucks. Use at your own risk. I'm feel my brothers in cars are being abused and it pisses me off! And its giving superchargers a bad name too. I know they were used in the 20's and I'll bet earlier as well. I'm thinking out loud too much but the 300 carnage is too much for me. I need a zanax. Maybe a total recall vacation too.

My solid built, well manufactured supercharger kit from GSM that i spoke so highly of - has failed!

My engine is blown up.

With stripping it down, and having my mechanics check over the engine (whats left of it - most came out my exhaust and out the bottom of the block.)

All my pistons and cond rods have blown!

After stripping further, we found a lot of water in my engine - therefore, water causing the con rods and pistons to cease and snap. NOT only that, it seems that the car has over revved - due to the piggy back ecu deleting my rev limiter!!

Thankfully we have managed to sort something out with chrysler and our garae here so we get the new engine, but we pay for the fitting!! I am so angry with GSM, all the horror stories are coming out about these kits now!

The water got into the engine because of the poor positioning of the air filter. every puddle you go through, up sucks the water. I have seen this on sever porsches with after market filters also!

so just now, we are trying to source a new SRT engine (which chrysler dont sell as a whole) and ancilleries to get my standard SRT back to factory.

Its a very sad day when this happens, thankfully i was only going 30 mph.

a very depressed and angry Scottish boy!

Guy

very sorry to here this. seems like gsm just sucks!!! hopefully no one else will buy a s/c from them.

How about a class action law suit. There is no way with as many folks here with problems with this S/C that you cant come together and at least make them appear in court to face you guys and explain why there S/C's are so unsafe, noticed I said unsafe. Hint. Hint. Even if you dont win, they still have to pay court costs to defend themselves and at least that may be some gratification for you guys.

So you took a production motor and slapped a supercharger on it and are suprised it blew up? Give me a break. Today's production engines are generally not designed to be built up. That's what they sell crate motors for racing. That and the armchair lawyering really seems a bit weak.

While I don't advocate lawsuits I will say that both me and a bunch of my friends "slapped" superchargers on production motors and ran the hell out of them for over 50k miles without issues when the kit is tuned properly with a proper fuel delivery setup.

It's a shame that they sell kits for these cars that don't work properly and it's a shame they MARKET them as a STOCK bolt-on performance part. I just don't think a lawsuit would be worth the time.
