Hey There LA,

You just need to buy a USB to Serial port adapter. I got mine at Best buy for about $32.00. Once you load the driver you can connect via the USB port on your laptop. Call GS and ask for John or Ryan if you cannot reach Scott. You can PM me if you need some help.

We have here a rare post, someone who has gotten reliable service with a S/C on a hemi. Here are the ones I have seen: Mulligan, sizematters: an army of 2. It's good to hear that not everyone's S/C is a disaster!

sizematters, is yours a GSM S/C?

The supercharger did not blow up all 8 pistons and rods, you would have to drive in to very deep water and this would have happened supercharged or not, the air filter design is located behind the front valance and nearly sealed in the drivers front corner...this is user error period.

our engine managment systems dose nothing with the rev limiter period, the sad fact is some one that dosent have any knowledge can blame everyone but himself, we talked to this customer in scotland and he was very happy till he drove his car in a lake and blamed the supercharger.
With all due respect, there is one major flaw in your position. The Cold Air Intake was a GSM design, was it not?

I passed on your design because the exposed filter was so close to the ground, with no safety overide for accidental water intake.

The Volant, on the other hand, has an air intake tube located very low. Yes it is exposed to potential water pick up. However, the filter is enclosed in a box, located at hood level. It has an auxillary opening for air facing the grille. In the event water enters the pick up tube, the filter will be forced to draw air from the lower pressure area - the second opening, up high.

This is sound engineering and I have personally tested it many times in the extreme conditions we get in my area. Works perfectly.

Cars occasionally drive through standing water. Fact of life. Sound engineering demands that a low filter have some sort of secondary system to prevent water ingestion to the engine.

Just another 2 cents from an ole' gearhead.

Hi Michael,

I do not know how many supercharged engines have blown due to poor tuning, but I do know that there is due diligence required when using this mod. I have owned and still own many high performance cars. Some of them are barely streetable and require care that would frighten most folks. Still, I choose these cars over the vanilla flavors offered at the dealer because I can.
I keep a low profile and try to stay out of the BBS stream, but I had to come out today to shed a little light on what supercharging is and is not.
Supercharging is:
1. A power adder that must be matched to the strength of the motor, much like a turbo, nitrous, or high compression options. For most applications, 5 to 6 pounds of boost is very safe.

2. A power adder that requires tuning based on elevation, saturation, intended use, etc, etc...I.E. Tune for track and tune for street.

3. A torque lovers dream. I enjoy leaving rubber on a 60 roll.

A supercharger is not:

1. A toy.

2. Cheap.

3. For everyone.

4. The only performance option that GS offers.

Humble Regards......

I don't want to get involved in the S/C issue, I think it has been beaten to death and MOST folks already know exactly waht the issue is, but I want to share some experience I have had with Hyrdolocked motors. I have worked on Jeeps and off roaded for years and I can say ( after seeing more then one hydrolocked motor) a hydrolocked motor doesn't poop pistons and rods out the exhaust. The ones I have seen have their internals like rods, cranks etc. bent in strange and interesting shapes. I have also seen valves bent as well. But water doesn't burn nor does it compress so it doesn't fill cats and muffles with engine pieces like a blown/over-reved motor does. THe hydrolocked motors I have seen have bent rods and cranks, but again NOT pieces and parts filling the exhaust system...just my 2 cents.

Senior Rider,

Your statement rings completely true and proves yet again that you use your brain when selecting mods. The gs intake is a fair weather device. It did not not work for you. It will work for others. Basic yin yang life happens kind of stuff, right?

respect appreciated

You forgot to add that the 5.7 and 6.1 use a "Dry" intake system which means a piggyback fuel controller using an extra injector or two and this type of intake is a very bad combo...But I am sure GSM knows that right ???

So there is water in the engine huh?

Sure it got there via the air filter?

What about that water cooled aftercooler?

Maybe a pressure test is in order?

Perhaps a head gasket let loose?
