Happy with GS Motorsports TCM Upgrade

hello all,
heard there has been some issues around here lately...
well never one to not be involved somehow...
I am going to give you my opinion of the TCM upgrade from GS Motorsports.
It works.
Plain and simple.
I like it and that is all that matters.
The performance upgrade to the tranny is very noticeable.
The shift points stay the same (same mph everyone)...
but the (I guess for lack of better terms)...
the "allowability" of the tranny to wind out to 6250-6300 rpm now without having the tcm shift earlier than I wanted is gone and is now allowing for WOT all the way to redline...
and a clean shift into the next gear - either in "D" or in autostick.
the 1-2 shift issue?
is completely gone.
there is also more low end torque in each of the gears as well.
something about line pressures or something - I don't know all the gearhead details - I just drive em' - and hard. Put me in a vehicle and I'll tell you what it needs or doesn't. Example: the 300C SRT8 could have KW's and the quife and it would be near perfect. Don't get me wrong - the car rocks - 23,000 miles and counting - but there are some of us around here who want the absolute most out of the car.
I didn't believe it at first about the torque being there quicker, but it is surely there.
If you have an older 2006 SRT8 that was built in 2005.
Buy this upgrade.
I have now the shifting and redline limits I have always wanted or desired from this vehicle.
GS brought it to the table and we should all be thankful for the continued development as well as every other company fighting the uphill battle against the powers at DCX.
For the naysayers and those that look for every opportunity to slam GS Motorsports...
bring it...
better yet...
come drive my car and see for yourself.
any takers?
Sincerely,
Chris Butler

Damn, what a writeup! Makes a guy want to order the TCM immediately. Glad to hear about your success CButler! Your car sounds like a blast to drive. Do you know if this TCM will work in the 07 SRTs with the new programming?

Glad the car is running smooth!!

other sides

Thanks for the accurate feedback. Good to hear the other side of the story.

I like balance. It's kind of a yin/yang thing!

As a transmission technician everything in red doesn't make sense

If you raise the line pressure the shift points will automatically increase.

About the torque being there quicker? Unless you change the converter that can't happen.

I'm not saying you don't fell a difference because you probably have the most recent programing. The 1-2 shift issue was probably fixed when they installed a different module because not every one has this problem and you got lucky.

not always true

The previous poster is in error. In my GMC 4L80E you can raise the line pressure anywhere you want and no shifting occurs until the proper solenoid is energized by the pcm. More pressure will reduce the duration of the shift but the point at which the shift occurs is all decided electrically, not hydraulically.

This trans is the most sophisticated I have yet seen. It uses 3 different stages of lockup, and this has allowed the apparent stall speed to even be altered by programming!!! Not your typical gearbox!

damn, i wish my srt8 shifted like the 4l80e in my truck. It's got a custom tune and a transgo shift kit! Nothing like chirping a 33" all terrain tire!!

i think he is referring to the torque management in the pcm, that it does is retard timing just a little before shifts to put less stress on the tranny. The flash is actually from bg chrysler i believe but that is part of what it does along with editing rev limiter, top speed, shift points...etc.

guys,
get Scott involved on the tech stuff...
like I said... (read disclaimer)
I drive them...
not work on them.
and probably misunderstood Scott's explanation.
either way.
The thing works.
It works well.
And I love it.
Lates,
