Got a Mopar CAI for Christmas-Review

First let me say that I chose the Mopar CAI with the only expectation of getting a nice additional growl to compliment the Magnaflow system. No HP expectations.

I installed the CAI this afternoon and must thank vvv90 for his thorough step by step instructions which helped tremendously. Even I was able to finish it up in just over an hour with little to no issues.

My first impression is: HOLY CRAP! I expected it to sound like the old 4bbl Z28s I grew up with but DAMN this thing sounds downright evil at WOT. I now get it when some of you say that their fuel mileage drops after install. You just want to mash the gas all the time.

I know that their have been coutless dynos that prove that there is no HP gain with the Mopar system but I have to honestly say that it FEELS faster. It's probably mental HP but it really seems more responsive and the CAI and Magnaflow system really work well together.

I have to say that I'm sorry I waited so long to do it and highly recommend a new CAI to anyone with a stock intake if you want your 6.1L HEMI to sound like a 6.1L HEMI is supposed to.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!

Congratulations on the Christmas present! That is just the sort of thing that I’m looking to read about. I want one for purely sound and cosmetic purposes….no HP gains expected. I think they look totally awesome when you pop the hood, and the sound is just an extra bonus. Glad it is giving you exactly what you wanted!

I have to say that the Mopar CAI has exceeded my expectations for the sound.

Some of the local members are "blaming" me for their necessity to get one after they heard SRT 61 in anger at the last Meet & Greet here in Melbourne. The rush has been on for the Air Hammer and those members who have fitted them are over the moon with the results.

I am considering the air hammer too but I am not quite sold on it yet. Any insight?

From all reports the Air Hammer is the ONLY CAI to realise actual HP gains. The size of the pipe and air filter cone is massive and the sound it makes is equally massive too from what he members who have them are saying.

The Mopar CAI looks nice with the Mopar symbol painted on, and some people thought I had my pipe painted to match SRT 61's silver paintwork

The Air Hammer looks even more stunning if you pay a little extra to get the polished version. If I had my time again I would go Air Hammer

The only problem that I have is that the "Rev Hammer" seems like he is performing an infomercial with pom poms whenever he talks about it. Although it may be an awesome product, I am very skeptical since most of the claims are self proclaimed by the Rev Hammer. Oh well.

There was a "Face-Off" on another forum (which will remain nameless ) where they conducted a series of Dyno tests on a bunch of 300C models with a variety of CAIs. The Air Hammer was the "winner".

I personally like the Rev's style but can appreciate why other members might be wary. A group of Aussies got together to place a group order and I monitored the correspondence and progress of that order. It was an A1++++ transaction and the Rev gave regular progress updates on the manufacture of the CAIs to fill the order and they arrived packaged in excellent condition.

Hammer Motorsports is an excellent supporting vendor from my observations.

Hey 300cul8r, sounds like a great Christmas! I personally believe that the 6.1 is starving for air. I installed a DUB~air ACI and the the power increase is most definately there not to mention the lack of hesitation when you mash the accelerator. And the sound is a head turner!

I do agree, that he does appear to excel in customer service. I am probably just being a litttle over cautious. Thanks.
