time to wait for a real chip??

anyone have any leads on when we might be able to get a chip for the SRT's that will eliminate all this useless traction control?? i love the car. but im kind of frustrated. i bought a car with 425hp so i could drive it. not have the car drive itself. seems ridiculous that you cant even put the tail end sideways, without the yaw control(or whatever it is) killing your power.

from what i've heard, you can do burnouts/drifts with traction control switched off and the autostick down in low gear.

While the car is stopped (i.e. not in motion) hold down the ESP button until 'ESP Deactivated' is displayed in the EVIC on your dashboard... Once ESP is deactivated you should be able to do all the burnouts you want.

As for getting sideways, the procedure I described above does not completely deactivate the ESP system, but it will certainly allow you to kick the rear end out at will.

well i dont have much interest in doin any burnouts. but it would be nice to put the car sideways. i know how to deactivate the ESP. but it still doesnt allow me to go sideways. i was reading a big thread about it over at charger forums, from the SRT engineers chat session. and apparently, even with ESP deactivated, all it does is turn off torque management. it will still brake the spinning wheel. and what they were calling YAW control, is still in tact.

i just dont see why its so hard to make a programmer to shut this stuff down. or maybe by pass a few sensors used by the ESP. anybody looked into that. there must be sometype of sensor in the steering box that senses front wheel angle so YAW knows when to kick in. if you could put a sim in to trick it into thhinking the front wheels were always straight. you could probably full out drift.

i was unaware of this kit?? sounds prety good. but will it have the functionality of being able to eliminate the rear wheel braking also. once i put in a LSD??

actually, thinking about it now. the rear wheel braking would eliminate itself with the LSD. because the computer would never see just one wheel spinning. i think thats right anyway??

not sure why it wont work for me?? i hold in the ESP button till it says ESP deactivated. but if i try to power slide a corner. as soon as i turn my wheels the other way to correct and keep the car sliding. something takes over and puts the car straight again. so it wont go sideways for more than a second or 2.

As to whats deactivated with ESP disabled, its this.

1. Traction control (compares wheels speeds to road speed, brkaes wheels going faster than what it should be)

2. Yaw control (compares steering angle to yaw sensor, mismatch triggers intervention)

Whats NOT disabled

1. BLD, Brake Lock Differential. (This means that the system will intervene when back tire speeds dont match. A burnout or drift should keep tires speeds the same, both spinning. )

2. TM, Torque Managment (This backs off power a bit during a shift, alleviates shock loads)

The SRT guys thought maybe that DP03, who comaplianed of the same thing as you, maybe hit the shift point during the turn, and the TM happened at the worst time.
