Corsa Exhaust - Update & Install Tip

Last week I installed, with some great help of a buddy and his lift, a new Corsa exhaust. Today I stopped by his shop and checked all the clamps and hangers.

I was experiencing a small clunk when traveling over railroad crossings and the sharp edges of bridge deck transitions. We found that the X-pipe was hitting the tunnel brace. A couple of washers between the brace and the tunnel floor took care of it.

If you are about to install any exhaust, you might want to check your clearance between the X-pipe and that brace. There is plenty of thread on the bolt to add some washers to each side to give the pipe plenty of space between it and the brace.

Here's a pic, from the back, showing the pipe and brace before the washers were inserted just so you can visualize what I am saying:

You'll notice there isn't much space here at all without the washers. It was fine the first day or so, then it became evident I had a clearance problem.

So, watch for this when doing your exhaust installs.

Just put a 1" spacer between cross bracket and X pipe.
Than torque all you clamps!
Remove spacer and you will have no problems !
Also make sure your drain holes are pointed down on tunnel mufflers! If not you will get a water build up problem.
(installed 2 corsa systems this way)
Good luck
Gary

I used a piece of 1x lumber and a piece of 1/4 plywood.
When you remove spacer xpipe will drop about 1/4 and will give you about 3/4 clearance.
Have Fun

You are right! On my SRT8, the first day I got my Borla Catback Installed, there was a rattle and the culprit was the brace so I went back and they put spacers and the problem was fixed!

On all my clamps I had them do a tiny spot weld it so it wouldn't move. Whenever I need it removed, a simple small cut and they come off.
