Need directions for changing PCM

Got my B&G stage II in the mail!!!

I've never paid attention - how do I change it out? Do I need to disconnect the battery first?

I know there's a thread here somewhere.....

JMatt,
Disconnect the neg battery terminal. Pop your hood and remove the plastic cover over the PCM, This is on the left side under the hood very back. Take out the 1 bolt holding the PCM in. Pull the old PCM out. The plugs are colored for easy remove/replace. Slide the red tab back and unplug all 3 plugs. Remove the 2 bolts off the old PCM holding the bracket on, Put the bracket on the new PCM, Plug the 3 plugs into the new PCM, secure the red tabs agains. Slide the PCM into its hole and put the last bolt in. Replace Plastic PCM shroud cover. Connect neg to battery. Your Done.!! Good Luck

Thanks guys - you're quick. I already did it, assuming I needed to disconnect the battery. Thanks for the confirmation.

Me thinks you are gonna like it !!! I had mine changed w/ some other mods....but not only was there a noticable difference.....it got better with some miles too . Some people love it .....some say it's no big deal . I hope you feel it (crisper...snappier shifts right away ) . Will you flash your TCM as well ?? I saved both....so I could revert back to stock at any time if needed . Remember to swap it back with your stock unit if you are going in for dealer service that require your car to be starscaned ....it could wipe out the B & G flash . If you are just going in for minor service (such as an oil change) ....explicitly tell them not to do a starscan ....or swap it back anyway if you don't trust them . They can easily be re-flashed anyway....so it's not earth shattering . I had a very early unit and had a limp mode issue( yes....in the car ).....and Dave re-flashed it for free....no biggie . Great customer service . Enjoy it , Mike .
