Exhaust - Can I Just Change The Muffler?

I want to make the exhaust on my 300C have a deeper rumble. However, I don't want to purchase a complete Cat-Back system because I want the car to remain as "stock" as possible. All I want to do is change the mufflers. Is that possible?

I see the stock muffler is a huge, "dual muffler" setup with both sides going into the same large muffler housing. Can I remove that and replace it with a couple of Magnaflows? Is the crossover pipe contained within the stock muffler?

I don't want it to end up terribly LOUD, just a nice, deep rumble to let folks know it's got a Hemi.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

to get a deeper sound go on ebay and look for a blastin bobs kit. It will get rid of your resonators and give you larger tips. a 7db system will be perfect for what you are looking for. I know, its what I was looking for. easy to install, gives great sound, and a great new look (with larger tips). I got it and love it. install will take about 1-2hrs max and you can do it yourself.

I gotta tell you...this forum is great! I ask a question and in a matter of MINUTES I have answers, and good ones, too!

I checked out Blastin' Bob's kits on Ebay and they look like what I need. Do you know if these kits cause a drone in the 2,000 RPM area? I removed the resonator on my '04 Hemi Ram (it already had a Magnaflow) and the drone at around 2K would give me a headache. I ended up dumping the exhaust on that one right at the muffler, but I can't do that with a 300C!

I dont consider it a drone, but most people would. I like the sound. It is from around 1800 to 2600 RPM. Sounds good and not annoying to me personally. If you are worried about the drone, then go with bob's 5 db kit.

I don’t know if you ever saw this thread, but here is another option for you to consider. Good luck!

That is the same as a Blastin Bob's mod, but prob more expensive because you need the pipes to be bent and then have to buy tips. IMO, go with the bobs. they also come with factory positioned hangars.

Always learning...

After doing the suggested reading about this subject, I now know the muffler is "The Suitcase." I also now know that removal of the resonators is probably going to give me just the sound I'm looking for.

By the way, I drove from eastern Ohio to Fort Wayne and back over this weekend. 95% was on the interstate with the cruise set at 70 mph. I averaged 24.6 mpg! The odometer clocked 1,000 total miles on the car just before I got home. So far I'm VERY impressed with this car.

On my Super Bee. I went with a pair of Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers and the Blastin Bobs 11 db resonator delete pipes in back.
