AFE Stage 2 Installed

Just installed the AFE stage 2 and took a quick test drive - the sound is great coupled with the JBA exhaust! Def can notice some gain over a complete stock set up - throttle is much more responsive than before and the car picks up and goes quicker. A couple questions though. The dreaded IAT sensor was a pain in the ass to put in. I broke off the black plastic housing or bracket that covers the top of the sensor - figured its not a big deal right? Also, the rubber grommet AFE gives you to put the IAT sensor into gave me some trouble. By accident i tore off about 25% of the outer ring of the grommet - IAT sensor sits in there snuggly and doesnt move around at all - again, not a big deal right? After install, I reconnected the battery, and my auto up window doesn't work, for both driver and passenger windows. After driving a little bit, the auto up/down on the driver side window works, but the passenger side auto up/down doesn't. I got no codes, no error messages when i started the car up after install, so I should assume everything is ok? the rest of the install was a breeze and i had no problems/issues whatsoever. However, i do notice that there is a bit of rubbing already with the top of the tube and the hood...tomorrow morning maybe ill try to readjust it to sit lower...

The AFE rubs on everyone's hood. Still waiting for AFE to make the correction before I buy one.

As far as your auto up window, it needs to be reset. Here is the procedure as well as others that will help you:

STANDARD PROCEDURE

BATTERY RECONNECTION
Note: This reconnection procedure is to be performed anytime the battery has been disconnected.
1. Connect the battery negative cable (2) to the battery post and tighten the clamp nut.
2. Install the rear compartment floor trim panel.

CAUTION: Once the battery has been connected, review and perform the following information also as applicable:

AUTO UP FRONT WINDOW
If the vehicle is equipped with the auto-up front window feature, once the battery is reconnected the door module needs to be calibrated. The door module requires calibration anytime the battery or door module has been disconnected for any length of time. To calibrate, perform the following:
1. Connect the battery cables.
2. Using the window switch, raise the window to the full UP position. Hold the switch in position for 1 second, then drive the window all the way down to the bottom.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM (ESP)
If the vehicle is equipped with ESP, once the battery is reconnected, the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) needs to be calibrated. The SAS requires calibration anytime the battery or an ABS (ESP) component has been disconnected for any length of time. To calibrate, perform the following:
1. Start the engine.
2. Center the steering wheel.
3. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left until the internal stop in the steering gear is met, then turn the wheel all the way to the right until the opposite internal stop in the steering gear is met.
4. Center the steering wheel.
5. Stop the engine.

Hey Johnny Vig, thanks for the info! def have to do both those things tomorrow before i head to work. I think i'm also going to pull fuse 11 to reset the pcm and see how the car responds to that also. i read about the AFE rubbing before i bought it, but it appeared to me that it was more of an srt-8 problem than a 5.7l problem - so much for that lol. the rubbing is very slight, not even an inch long, but i did notice it already.

I actually had a shop install my AFE stage 2 when I had my Magnaflow Cat-Back installed. The same thing happened to the IAT sensor tip. Since it was there mistake they ordered a new sensor for me. I haven't had a chance to get back over there for them to install the sensor. I have put 1,500 miles on my SRT with the damaged sensor and have had no problems. Not sure if it will hurt you in the long run though?

Here is a post that rmedina made trying to compile a list of AFE users reporting the rubbing problem. You may want to contact him.
