ShiftHammer Installed

Welp I got my package early thursday and dug in.

First thing was to read the PDF thats on the CD with the kit. The kit had the transmitter w/ buttons, reciver, 5 wire taps, 4 wire hooks.

I have a personal dislike for crimp wire taps, and Hammer supplied good quality ones with the kit.

You have to mostly remove your center console, which is 5 screws ( 3 under the rubber liner, 2 at the Ashtray ), remove the shifter trim and slide it back and start working hooking up wires.

I found 2 small picture mistakes that are being corrected.

I soldered most of my stuff in and it took me about 3 hours putting in leads to all the wires in the console, I popped wires out of connectors so i could heat shrink them.

Here are a few pictures :

This is about how my hands sit while cruising, the button clamp is handy

Here is where I installed the reciver unit, I used just a bit of thin trim foam tape just to make sure it stays with aggressive driving

This is the accessory power connector ( 2 wires power/ground ) popped out both wires and slipped on some heat shrink and retaped.

Transmitter mount, velcro, I used some adhesion promotor to help things stick

Wire run, checking stalk clearance

Checking the other way

Set it up so red is down shift <left> and up is black <right> same as the auto stick. Works great, been doing a lot of diving in Autostick to get use to it. You get a very positive click from the buttons, they have a soft, very good feeling button top.

I am thinking about maybe moving the buttons higher on the steering wheel. Still playing around a bit with that.

So far so good. I am changing a few things like the white wire hold downs to black and I am getting some black screws for the clamps vs the SS ones.

As far as the look its fairly out of sight, just depends on how you run the wires.

Nice job. Its a bit 'wirey' for my tastes. Lookin' forward to hearing your thoughts on functionality.

G'luck.

No, it is not a change to transmission settings. All its for it keeping hands on wheel while drive "spirited" or road racing.

It has all the same function of your AutoStick, just using buttons and your thumbs.

Well the wires behind the wheel there isnt much you can do without taking the thing apart and stealthing the wires then you have to worry about an air bag going off in your face if you make a booboo

So far So Good.
