Talking New SRT8 Owner! Help decide first mod

Hello all, just traded up from the C to the REAL C the SRT8. Pulled it into the garage less than 2 hours ago.

I had a Mopar intake on my C and loved the sound, and thought it did a nice job in HP gains. I don't race, or speed much but I do want some performance modes. I had originally thought the Air Hammer looked amazing, but I am thinking that the extra $250 more than the Mopar is excessive? Or should I spend less, and get the exhaust and intake at the same time?

Also is there a performance upgrade I can do like the "chip" or programmer? I think the one I wanted to get for the C and never did was the Hypertech? Is there same for the SRT? I don't want to spend $600 or 700 on a Flash but I would be ok with $350-500 for the mod.

Any input u can suggest for modding on a budget would be great. I have read so many posts I was going to do the airhammer and a magnaflo exhaust, just not sure if the Airhammer is that much better?

Thank you for ur input.

Paul

AFE STAGE 2!!!....hands down .......$260 shipped.....I was one of the first to have it for the SRT and have been in love ever since. The positive feedback is everlasting. It will walk circles over Mopar.

OLD SCHOOL!
http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt...age-2-cai.html

Read this too....
http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt...-2-intake.html

The airhammer is ok but it's 1-2hp over the AFE doesn't justify it's outrageous price. The price actually frustrates a lot of people. Also, it doesn't flow well with the rest of the engine IMO.

170 Thermostat.....$15

GSM Fan/Torque mod $150

Magnaflow high flow cats $450

JBA catback $500 if specials available

No programmer yet.....jut B&G flash II.

Keeping our fingers crossed for a Diablo tune!

By the way nice name..........Paul

Happy modding -Paul

Welcome to the Dark Side Paul, I'm sure some dancing bananas will show up later today to greet you as well.
Wow, you had your C nicely modded, somebody got a nice car there!

I agree with the other Paul, I have the AFE II and love it. Watch for a sale cause you can get them for around $250 then. Some have rubbing issues but I don't. Not sure why.

CORSA cat back exhaust sounds great and no drone but its expensive, $1300 or so. Also dynoed showing no gain by itself, check this out http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt...-promised.html

Be sure to listen to what you plan to buy on somebody's car, I've seen some folks here selling their cat backs and then buying CORSAs.

from the save yourself a headache sometime down the road department: my very first "mod" was a spare wheel/tire in the trunk, with the necessary equipment to change a flat at midnight, on Christmas eve, in a snowstorm, on a deserted highway, with no cellphone signal.........well, you get the idea.
think about it.

CRAP never thought of it? There is no spare is there? LOL NICE JOB... A 40K car with no spare tire. AWESOME.

LOL

Yes I am thinking the AFE is the way to go...

The GSM fan torque mod is that something I can install? I installed my intake with ease, and grille as well.

There are no wheels on my horizon. I was extremely disappointed with 2 sets of 22" wheels I had on my 300C. The DUB Moab and Zenetti Heir. I took both sets to multiple places, and the rattling of the steering wheel was never fixed. They made spacers, they tried hubcentric spacers, they tried alligments... Nothing ever worked. SOOOOO no more of that crap, plus I like the look of the Forged 20s that are on there.

I am thinking Airhammer, GSM, some sort of flash (problem $850.00 seams really steep. Did everyone pay this much?

Steep price includes spare PCM, so you can easily revert to stock.

I would strongly recommend a Pro Torque high stall torque converter. Absolutely exactly what this car needs, and going on mine soon.

Also, if your car has RSA all seasons, ditch them for almost anything else, as they really suck.

Yeah, for the $$$$ you really can't go wrong with the aFe II. In stock, and a sweet price for 300Cforums.com members. PM for discount code for our direct site: - SoCal Motorsports

Also, I've sent DiabloSport an email regarding their plans on the 6.1L Tuner. I will forward their response once received (hoping tomorrow). Just saw them at a trade show on the 9th, and they didn't mention it to us.

Thanks in advance,

John
