New SRT8 AFE Stage II and Exhaust Added (PICS)

Hello,

Sorry for the long post, and bad pics, I will retake some tomoro

My 2006 Silver SRT 8 C is now 6 days old and I am getting things done pretty quickly. It is time to see what this car is like with a couple performance mods.

After a supporting vendor made contact with me (John from SOCAL MOTOR SPORTS who was outstanding answering questions of a performance novice) I felt comfortable getting a couple things ordered ASAP. First, the AFE Stage II air intake and JET chip (the AFE was here in only a couple days, Jet is on the way).

Last night I got and installed the AFE stage 2 with little time and no broken stuff (like grommets or sensors) thanks to the instruction and pics from this forum. Funny when you buy the AFE stage II for the SRT its the same part number as the 5.7. The box even says "for the 5.7" and it does not have any pictured instructions for the 6.1 motor included (can't imagine AFE couldn't borrow a SRT for 20 minutes to get install pics - WEIRD? ). I noticed immediately a much better throttle response (if you read my other posts here I was concerned there was a problem it was feeling sluggish off the block). This changed that and the growl was much deeper than the Mopar that I had on my last 5.7 300C overall an A+++++++ for the AFE Stage II.

Today I had scheduled a trip to Pro Muffler a local shop that does a lot the after market exhaust installs for the dealerships. I had called and asked about some different kits deciding that I don't want and can't afford to spend $1100 or more on a Borla, Corsa, or Bassani system... SO, I asked about some custom Cat back setups and the Flowmaster new 50 series was recommended with 3" tubing. I said that I wanted something mild and some performance increase and similar tips to stock angle cut. 3.5" chromed Jones Exhaust tips were chosen as they were in stock. I was pleasantly surprised that the tips were not sticking out beyond the bumper (not sure why this is a HUGE pet peeve I hate that) and the 3.5 chrome tips looked like they belonged there (I could have had the 4" they were way too bog for my taste.

The sound is amazing, although it is louder than my taste (I would say 1.5 times or so louder than stock)... Its deep and awesome at idle, and noticeable but not obnoxious when keeping a cruising RPM. When you hit the gas u feel and notice the difference immediately both the ears and the butt dyno. Off the line it pulls much better and when shifting u can notice a dramatic difference - not sure if that is normally the case? (PHEW THANK GOODNESS). I am all around very happy with the upgrades, I hope the JET will add a lil more, at least maybe to the shifting, or firmness or bottom end. Not sure what to expect but it was cheap enough to toy with as I wait for the Diablo along with half the forum or more.

Awesome buddy! My first mod was the AFE also!

I bet that monster roars! I'm personally waiting for SLP to release their SRT exhaust but looks like we have twin.....well a couple months ago.

Some cheap mods.....strip side mouldings $0, 170/180 thermostat $15, and a little more than the intake...magnaflow hi-flo cats

Also check my mod list. All are awesome and not too expensive except the rims!

Nice start on the mod list. You are ahead of me. And how long have you have her?

Got it last Sunday. Did the mats and Ipod adapter Monday and I am thinking the Ipod adapter was the best mod...

Looks good! Nice selection of mods.

One quick question: Did you take off the fuse box cover?

Congratulations on the very nice CAI install on your brand new beauty. Since she is only 6 days old you started off with a great first mod. I look forward to seeing more of your mods in the future.

AHAHAHAHAH OOOOOOPS

I went to paint it the same color as the color change blue to red valve covers, and I completely forgot to put it back on... That was 2 days ago. Man, I am seriously losing it. I am taking this medication and literally I can't remember what I ate for breakfast. I am forgetting things like you can't imagine. Worst yet, I am only 32 years old (Uhhhh as far as I remember? LOL)

Thank you, I will get that back on there today

HAHAHA, no problem. I just wanted to make sure your new car came with one. Sometimes stuff like that can get misplaced by the dealer or factory.
