Got Quaife

This thing is unreal I noticed the difference right off the bat, when I stomp on the pedal now it just goes forward. I’m taking the car in a new direction and this is just the beginning. The other difference I notice is transitioning form from hwy to hwy the car really sticks. I had the guys at DC Performance do the install and these guys are true professionals. They went through the whole car front to back and resolved a potential issue with the 5.7 Quaife, I can’t ask for more than that. Anyone who has been to the track, drag strip or just want maximum performance this is a must.

Here is what the Quaife offers:
The Quaife Differential powers both drive wheels under nearly all conditions, instead of just one. With an ordinary open differential, standard on most cars, a lot of precious power is wasted during wheelspin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip (along the path of least resistance). The Quaife, however, does just the opposite. It senses which wheel has the better grip, and biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel.

fatchance...If I couldn't have gotten my car in AWD this would have been one of my first upgrades. I have heard almost nothing but good things about the Quaife LSD. It will be interesting to hear how much it improves your ET's. I don't see nitrous in your signature so your half shafts should be safe as well.

Thumbs up for Quaife!

It's by far, the best performance mod that I have done to my car.

Yikes! $1,600 is a pretty steep upgrade according to my searches.

Bruce (Midnightsun300c), you mentioned nitrous, but is this a possible future upgrade for my setup?

Isn't it actually about $2500 by the time it's in your car?

I'm right there with you NR.

As for half shafts all the issues that have occured have been with the 6.1's. But, while the car was apart I had it measured for half shafts and a driveline, I"ll need it.

VERY nice! The guys over at DC Performance are top-notch. I highly suggest them.

On a side note, Fatchance (John) did you ever get those bulbs I sent you? I didn't hear back but I hope so.

IMHO no! You are currently pushing 500 rwhp and with a better fueling setup you could probably get 550 hp. If you added 100 shot of nitrous on top of that you would be at 650 rwhp! Even worse, nitrous will have a tendency to come on quicker than your supercharger. Everything from your pistons down through your engine, transmission and driveline would be in jeopardy.

If you were willing to rebuild the car from the ground up including new pistons, rods and half shafts then you could probably do it. I think the NAG1 and crank would probably hold up. A higher end bearing set that would take the beating a little better would probably be a good idea. It would also be a good idea to launch with torque management engaged, you could be a little slower but your transmission and driveline would probably survive better.

That being said, I would think you would be happier by trying something along the lines of a smaller blower pulley to get more psi out to your current supercharger.

P.S. See what happens, you go from 270 awhp to 370 rwhp and get used to that. Then that is not enough. Then you go to 500 rwhp and get used to that. Then thats not enough. Then you will go to 550 rwhp and you are already thinking that won't be enough. So now you are thinking of more! Like I've said before...a little is good, more is better, and a lot is just right! You are addicted my friend!

Haha Bruce! I should have been more clear. What I was trying to say is will the Quaife work ok since my car is supercharged. There was talk about nitrous and a worry over half-shafts, so I was curious if a SC application would have a similar concern. But thanks for planting that seed in my noggin! SRT8 + SC + nitrous = nirvana!
