Hypertech Hyperpac

Being a total Mopar freak, I was thumbing through my latest issue of Mopar Muscle (the September Issue) and found an article on Hypertech Hyperpac install on a 5.7L Magnum. This install lowered 1/4 mile times by 0.4 sec better than stock. Anyone have any input on this install and would comparable time reductions apply to the 6.1L engine? I also wonder what effect this install would have on fuel mileage.

I'm having a hard time believing their results. Did the article detail their track runs or how the comparison was done? They'd have to pull 40hp out of the PCM to drop 0.4s.

Maybe you should send them one of these:

that's a HUGE difference, and a little hard to believe.

Unfortunately, without getting into damaging EGT's, you would be unlikely to get much more out of the SRT8 as far as HP. We already easily exceed the rated HP under ideal conditions. A significant reduction of torque management would produce a lot of gains in our cars, but may expose the drivetrain's weaknesses. I'm hoping that Diablo can help us with some creative tuning, but we all need more results from real world buyers first!

A torque converter would be a huge benefit to a stocker with little reduction in utility or reliability. Since we already have a trans cooler and a very reliable trans design, this should be a safe mod. Our power curve screams for this.

I finally have my software! Happy Diablo owner.

My Favorite "old car"... 73 Super Duty 455 Trans Am - 13.08 @109 mph when brand new! Just try and find one now!

I emailed hypertech if they were going to be coming out with a programmer for the srt8 a couple of months ago when diablo started leaking info on their tuner. HT never emailed me back. The only way I see a programmer giving 40 more hp is if you also have other mods that the computer isn't adjusting properly for.
