For those considering the airhammer CAI

The numbers have already been proven but just in case you still had doubts or were on the fence.

I had my car dyno'd at Diablosports and here are the results.

Stock - 370 RWHP
W/Hammer - 380RWHP

10 HP to the rear is pretty damn impressive........

The tech running the dyno was surprised himself and said he'd only seen the AFE have numbers close to this.

Too many varibles to consider with one random dyno IMO, regardless if it's on the same machine, same tech and so forth. Honestly I don't think it reflects real world results accurately.

I'd be more impressed to see stock 1/4 mile times vs. Airhammer CAI times and with several runs.

You have more variables running on a track wheel spin being the biggest.

A back to back dyno on the same day with same tech is very accurate IMO

The following is a quote from one of the SRT Chat Sessions. It's taken a little out of context however, but touches on dyno testing. The question was posed by RemumeSpeed, who asked if claims of 22 RWHP with ONLY a CAI to the 6.1L were accurate. This is their reply.

A couple of comments:
- Many of the CAI's are not actually CAI. They tend to suck hot air from behind the radiator.
- I would not believe the +22 RWHP figure. Next time someone posts this, ask them: was the ambeint
air temperature exactly the same run to run? were the charge temps exactly the same? How much
does the RWHP vary if you keep everything the same and simply do 10 runs on the dyno?
- We have found transient dynos to be somewhat innacurate. All of our testing is done at Steady State
and corrected to standard conditions.
- The SRT-8 airbox has probably the lowest pressure drop at the airflow demanded by the 6.1L engine
at WOT we've ever tested. The stock filter flows very well and keeps crap out of your engine. Many of
the aftermarket air filters allow lots of dirt to pass with a very minor increase in flow. Definitely not 22
RWHP worth!

The ONLY point I'm making here is that of "transient dynos" being inherantly innacurate, meaning that back to back dynos could very well vary, even on the same dyno, as opposed to scientificlly regulated Steady State SAE conditions.

Who knows. Maybe for the same reason people put CAI's on...haha. Actually I suppose they serve as somewhat of a benchmark, just like you've done here. The only thing is I wouldn't take those HP gains and use them as cast in concrete proven results based on one dyno.

Having said that, the SRT Engineers themselves said using a Mopar CAI gave them a 10 HP gain on an SRT8 over the stock air box.

Dyno's ARE PROVEN notoriously innaccurate. I wouldn't trust them farther than I could throw one.

If you are crazy detailed and spend all day with one you still have to correct for ambient conditions, etc. Very difficult to draw any conclusions from this type of test.
