oil change question

Well I searched the forums and havent been able to find an answer. I am wondering how to go about doing an oil change on my 300 Touring. I noticed the whole under part of the engine is covered and I cannot see the filter anywhere. Is an oil change on this vehicle an easy task? I have always owned trucks and have always changed my own oil, but the 300 seems to be a bit more difficult. If possible please explain the easiest way to remove the filter on the 300 Touring. Thanks!

Not sure about the Touring, with the hemi you do have to remove the plastic shield to access the filter and drain plug. I would assume you do have to remove it on the Touring model as well.

use the search on this site, another member gives all steps in the process. Oh yeah if its the first change buy a METAL cap style filter remover. Why? U ask, the orig filter is placed on the car in the factory and grease not oil is used to seal the "o" ring. the grease mkes it almost impossible to remove as well as the guy who torqued the thing at 500+lbs

I just changed mine on Sunday at 3000 miles. I can atest that the filter is very tight.

BUT I didn't use the end cap filter wrench (didn't have one). I did use the clamp style filter wrench and once I found the right way to lay under the car and get some torque on it, it came off fairly easy. But it was tight at first.

Just wanted you to know it "can" be removed using the clamp/band filter wrench.

On the Hemi you must remove the shield, as stated, probably the same for the touring, it's no big deal, four 10mm bolts and it slides right out from the under bumper shield. I also used an end cap wrench and had to go to a different one that mofo was on so tight. MAKE SURE YOU INSPECT THE FILTER AND BLOCK TO SEE THAT THE RUBBER GASKET IS NOT STUCK TO THE ENGINE, IF IT IS ALL YOUR OIL WILL LEAK OUT AND RUIN YOUR ENGINE. I would also recommend exploring the synthetic oil threads etc. When re installing the 10mm bolts, snug them good but don't over torque them.
