Most use 22-28 psi. It will depend on your track. Start at 30psi and work your way down if your having trouble hooking. What kind of tires you got?

Don't drop the pressure

I wrote this a while back:

Tire Pressure?

People drop their tire pressure thinking it'll give them more contact. It simply doesn't.

I think one of the reasons people are so convinced that lower tire pressure gives them more contact is that slicks/wrinkle tires run at an extremely low tire pressure. These tires are designed to be run at say 6lbs. You're street tires are not.

Or possibly, they've burned all of the tread off the center of their over inflated tires and the only tread they have left is on the edges. Which if you drop your tire pressure down into the 20's is all you're running on.

I run 32lbs rear and 30lbs front. That’s on the street or on the track. There is no reason to drop your tire pressure at the track on street tires.

The next question...

Why heavier in the rear than in the front?

It helps with oversteer. Your ass end won't be nearly as loose. Research it and try it yourself. I found it works well and is based in fact, not superstition.

Sounds like it does make sense, but wouldn't that mainly apply for a track with twisties in it? I was asking about a straight line drag race. let me know it you think the same concepts would apply. the way i am thinking is that it would be the opposite for a drag race. thanks

jace

Cool What Up

In my case at the track....have no problem hookin up because of AWD.....

.....My recommendations is to stay at your normal pressure and see how you hook up.....if there is a problem with spin bring it down to about 24-25 psi and see.....with the proper launch you can be faster at regular pressure if there is no spin.....
