Trojan gets Stroked

Thought Id share with you folks over here my situation, This happened 2 weeks ago.

Cant get a ounce of luck it seems. Was changing the oil and it was coming out super slow. We were poking in the oil drain hole and found something was blocking the hole. It wouldnt stick to the magnet. So to get the pan off and truly see what this Object was we pulled the motor.
Heres the object.

Turns out it was part of a piston.

So that turned into having to do this.

Whiched turned into this.

So then it was like what now? New pistons or pursue another option.

Well after alot of talks with Steve @ FRI Racing we dicided to do a 392 stroker kit. So I got the new Stroker kit and it went off to the machine shop.
Heres the kit.
Compstar Stroker Crank

Mahle Pistons

Compstar Rods

All new main bearings as well and a FRI Tomahawk Cam. We got the Block back from being bored and the rotating assembly balanced out. Today was day 1 on the new build. Heres how it went.

Alright its been quit a roller coaster ride since the big mis-hap with the broken piston. We finally got the rotating assembly balanced, The crank was way out so it took alot of work to get it right. Evidently the whole world does'nt stop for just for me. The machine shop did come thru though. Josh at HOP had another job going that also didn't finish on time. So anyway today we got started. Slowly I might add. When I arrived at the shop at noon I was suprised to see Josh dremeling/Grinding away at my block. Were the oil flow's thru by the lifter holes. After a hr of this, I got the special job of completly cleaning the block and all it's nooks and crannies.. I wont bore you with all the steps but 3 hrs later I got to mask her off and paint her down in Mopar Blue. After about 5 good coats, I peeled all the tape off and wheel'd her back to her resting spot for the night.

Im gonna do the oil pan tomorrow in the same blue. Josh say's tomorrow
the cranks going in and the rods/pistons. lotsa measuring to do to get it just right. I'm real confident with Josh's motor building skill's. As long I we dont run into any snags we could hear this thing running by friday.
I think I have everything I need parts wise. Gaskets, Timing Set, Headbolts, New wire Harness, Ive got a B&G PCM, 1 Stock PCM, My Diablo shipped overnight to me today, confirmed by Stepahanie at HHP. Can any body think of anything else Im gonna need?

First I'd like to say I'm sorry to see what pain you went through. That's just too bad and you take such good care of your baby.

But come on! Look at what an awesome beast you have created!!! Love that set up, Trojan. I mean, how can you sleep at night????? Those connecting rods are un-real!! You're putting a 6.1 to shame!!

I wish I could see and hear that beast when you get her done. Good luck!!

Thanks for the kind words Moose!
You might not see it but I will for sure post a vid/sound clip.
I have high expectations for this build. Really hoping to be somewhere in the 425rwhp area. I haven't been here posting lately and today I decided my friends here @ 300C would probably be interested in the stroker build. I will keep this thread updated all week with progress pics and updates.

Sorry about your luck,,,, but for the new mill...Awesome!! Can't wait for the next installment!!

Did it just happen, or was the only indication you had was the piece in the pan?

Just the piece in the pan, It was crazy, It could have happened at anytime, I had just got back from driving from So Cal to Shindig in Georgia, 5000 mile's and 10 pass's at the drag. For all I know it happened 6 months ago or the day before? How it got past the the crank/rods Ill never know. Real grateful I didn't grenade the motor. That piston could have gone at anytime. Kinda like someone was looking over my sweet babygirl C. She's always been good to me.

Chris - now that was just weird! I mean - that piece coming off and not blowing the engine. Glad that you discovered it.

The new build looks stout. Keep us tuned!

Trojan,
That story is almost unbelievable yet you clearly have the proof. In a way, 'lucky' you, but....who pays for the cool replacement and how much are we talking?

I pay for the replacement, I had heads/Cam when it happened, the dealer would have never gotten involved. Under 5k for the parts and rebuild. would have been 4k with just a piston replacement labor/parts, so for the stroker parts and the rebuild, I kill'd it I got a good good deal.
