predator tunes

I have an '06 300C 5.7 with CAI. I set the predator at 91 CAI, raised shift firmness, raised shift points, raised rev limiter to 6,450, and at 57 degrees Farenheit, [i]one run only in this tune[i], in auto mode it ran 5.63 to 60mph, 13.99 in 1/4 at 105.8 mph. The best stock tunes were about the same to 60 (if memory serves only one run was at 5.38, the rest about 5.8 or higher), 14.07 e.t., and in another run, 106.2 mph. Most stock runs were 14.2to 14.5 around the 104s or low 105s. With 91 octane setting (without CAI setup, but with CAI installed) it ran a best e.t. of 13.98, but I have yet to fully learn the best launch pedal and optimum shift points. I suspect that I think about 5,700-5900 rpms will give me better e.t.s than the 6,100-6,200 auto shift points.
What rpms do you shift at for best results with just the Predator and 91 CAI tune? The manual shift will let me shift at whatever rpm I want to, up to 6450, so I think these custom mods are good and safe.
[b]Question:[b] Should I add 1% or 2% fuel at WOT higher rpms, or is this not necessary? What other changes do you recommend to this tune? Thanks!

Okay I have a few suggestions to you and any other 5.7 guys out there using the canned tunes.

Use increased shift firmness, but do not use increased shift points!

On a stock to mildy modified 5.7, the extra RPMS take you out of your powerband instead of keeping you in it. Apparently our engines just do not like additional rpm and if you pay close attention, they seem to struggle a little with the raised shift points.

Its a really weird scenario that I don't fully understood, however according to my Gtech, I lost 2/10 of a second off my times when using the raised shift points.

HOWEVER, though my car did not perform as well from a dead stop, my passing power and top end seemed to be better.

Anyone else with similar experiences?

I noticed this also. I ran 14.4 and 14.5 last week and i had my diablo predator tuned for raised shift points and i felt that when i went over 6,000RPM that my acceleration wasn't was weak. and as i see most 5.7s are getting to 13.9 in 1/4 mile. i am goin out to the track tomarow so i will let you know what my new times are after i lower shift points

Okay please do! Your times seem to closely reflect mine while using the raised shift points. I highly recommend the 180 thermostat before you hit the track though. After a few runs with just the 93octane tune and a filter, my coolant temps were hitting 240!!! Thats only 15 degrees below my coolant boiling!

And most people on here beleive theres a significant power loss due to heat soak around 215-220!!

But to give you an idea what to expect, here are my times. Forgive me if my mph is off from my previous posting, i'm pulling these from the top of my head.

Stock (just filter + plugs) 14.05@101

Diablo(93+normal shift points) 13.80@102.5

Diablo(93+raised shift points) 14.20@???(i deleted the file)

I don't have real track data to support my claims, but my trusty ole Gtech has always held up to scrutiny on my past vehicles, so these times should be strongly considered.

However according to the few stock 5.7 dynos that I have seen, our power seems to trail off right before shifting using the stock shift points, so increasing the shift points will just make it worse. On V8 vehicles, more RPM does not necessarily mean more power.

I have been told chrysler will wipe your warranty if a predator is used

If you put your car back to stock before taking it in for a service how would they know?

Dude, according to the magnuson moss (sp?) warranty act, no dealer can void your warranty due to ANY modification unless they can specifically prove that the modification directly caused a failure.

And just because one modification causes a failure, does not mean that your entire warranty is voided. For example, if you put nitrous on your car and blow your engine, but your suspension has problems too, then your dealership has to fix the suspension under warranty.

So unless the dealership finds the diablo in your car or gets off there lazy butts and searches the forums for you posting about tuning your car, then your going to be okay. And even if they do, they would have to legitimately prove that the tune caused the failure.

And I don't know about you, but every diablo-related-failure that I have ever heard of was directly related to user error.
