Exhaust vrs Chip ?

Exhaust vrs Chip? Hi all, new to group here but am hoping for some help. I'm wondering how much gain to expect by adding Borla exhaust alone and if the gains people are experiencing are from the chip are more due to the exhaust or if there was a noticable gain after adding each seprate component. Also is the Borla very loud under normal crusing? I would love the throaty growl when you jump on it but would'nt want to have a constant drone while just crusing along. Thanks in advance !

Welcome to the board Tiggernlizzy,

There is a wealth of info on Borla - check out the search function. 140112 Borla is the 4 muffler setup and is what I run. The magnaflow is also a good setup and a little louder.

There is only 1 "chip" available, the Jet chip. It's a piggyback, and does not change the factory ECU at all, and it is not a programmer. Great threads on that as well if you search. I don't have it yet...

It's not noisy at all. Subtle under normal driving and sounds good at WOT. As far as SOTP...it does leave the line a little quicker, and will spin a little easier (I've had it on for at least 8k miles now though, but that's what I remember).

welcome tiggernlizzy! its good to see another member from the great state of north carolina. i wish that i could help you out in your search, but off of instinct, i would say the exhaust. as with alot of chips, they dont really work well by themselves. to get the optimal performance, it is recommended to have and exhaust and an intake. but it is entirely up to you. oh yeah, what part of nc are you from?

Smile Thanks 5.7 and Dueces

Thanks for the info guys . I guess I'll go with the Borla and the stage 2 chip. I think I'll modify the oem intake by canning the silencer and running a 4 inch flex tube down to the vent by the fog light , might get some ram air effect from that, at least it will be out of the engine compartment. I'm in Franklin N.C Dueces , not sure where Benson is , I'll have to look you up on the map !

They were a bit loud , according to my fiance'(sounded Great to me).
And being the" smart man" that I am,I added a 12" silencer to each side.
The Rumble is still there at idle, just a little quieter. When you get on it,
it let's you hear it Growl. At cruising speed, quiet enough to have a
conversation with someone in the back seat, without yelling. There is some
difference in power.
