synthetic oil

I'm thinking I'll skip the warranty and change the oil myself, since I'd prefer to use synthetic. Everyone who uses synthetic really extoll its virtues.

Is the oil filter easy to get at?

Crispeigee,
If you have a SRT8 they can't use regular oil the HAVE to use Synthetic. I got the warranty and they salesman called me up crying about having to use synthethic in my car.

Unless you watch them changing it, I wouldn't trust them.

Can't you get the warranty without the oil changes?

I have 20 "free" oil changes as part of my extended warranty. My dealer is fully aware of what oil to use...haha. I'm RIGHT there when the oil is changed too. Matter of fact, I open the hood, I take the filler cap off, I go under the car with the guy and when it's done, I close the hood and drive out. It's the next best thing to changing it myself, but I'll tell you what, I know it's done right. Do I sound anal?...haha.

Whats your guys normal oil consumption? I'm adding two litres of oil in between oil changes. I've own a few new cars but so far this car has used more oil than any new vehicle that I've owned. I'm using 0W40 mobile one oil. I'm thinking that I should shock the engine with some old fashion oil 10-40W or 20W50oil. That should help with the ring seatin. I imagine that the plugs are just covered with carbon from the oil and they need too be replaced as well.

Two litres??????????????

on my 5.7, I average 1/2 a quart or less. Two litres is a heck of a lot of oil.. way too much as you already stated. ( 2 Liters = 2.11 quarts)

Any 6.1 owners add your consumption? I doubt its anywhere near that, but I defer to your experience...
