I also use Redline oil in the rear diff., but have also used Mobil 1 as its much easier to obtain.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Redline has great diff and tranny fluids for sure. Their oil on the other hand is awesome, but as you said, the price difference doesn't really mean it protects twice as much.

I think my rear diff will be swapped over to redline in the near future.

Also try their Redline SI-1 Complete Fuel system Cleaner. I use it twice a year in a full tank and it cleans up any deposits and it is pretty cheap and easy to find.

Royal Purple is a PAO (Polyalphaolefin- -as is Amsoil) but PAO is Group 4 not Group 5.

Group 5 is NOT PAO based, but is a true synthetic as well:

The only differences are if you go up the the Group 5 PAO based oils that are really expensive and don't offer the protection difference for the price.

I believe Amsoil is still a PAO 5 oil as mentioned a number of times earlier in this thread.

One last thing on this synthetic discussion you all may know or maybe only some are aware of.
The 300C comes from the factory with synthetic oil in the transmission and rear end. Mopar ATF+4 is a synthetic oil as is the 75W140 mopar rear diff oil.

The Mopar 75W140 rear diff oil is also the world's most expensive oil....its around $25/qt.!!! Redline is 1/2 the cost!

Wikipedia is NOT an encyclopedia and isn't the place where I would get oil information from.

PAO oil is a Group 5 oil. And Royal Purple is mostly Group 3 with only a small portion that is Group 5 as an additive, but it is not the basestock.

Amsoil and Redline are currently the others that are PAO based and now even Mobil 1 is Group 3.

1.) Our tires are not a 35psi based tire. They are 30 psi for the car, and 32psi for the tire manufacturer. No where does any where state that we have a 35psi base tire.

2.) WHO THE HELL HERE DRIVES OVER 100MPH GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY!!!!

ATF+4 is not synthetic in any way shape or form. It just has a different additive package than Dextron/Mercon.
