Oil Change Question.......

Just got my 300c hemi used last month, and im getting close to my next oil change. I got the car with 67,000 miles and have no clue what oil was used for the previous 67,000 miles. Is it a good idea to put synthetic from here on out, even if for example the first 67,000 miles was ran on regular oil?

My preference would by synthetic, but as long as it's 5W20, dino oil would be fine also. At that mileage, I'd begin to think about a thorough engine examine, particularly water pump, and a change of serpentine belt. If you bought it from a dealer they should be able to tell you what they did to the car to ensure it was ready for resale.

yeh it was a "certified" vehicle meaning they do a 125 point inspection before reselling the vehicle, i also got an extended bumper to bumper warranty to 95,000 miles, incase something were to go wrong with this car.... runs like a beauty, and wow you talk about power.... and i want to continue keeping it running like this which is why i ask about the oil here... Im also gonna replace the tranny filter when i take it to the dealer which i keep hearing is a good thing to do at this mileage... Ill definately have them look at the serpentine belt as well, thanks for that info...

I've got to agree with GoofyTimL have the serpentine belt and water pump checked. Check with the dealer if the 30,000 mile and 60,000 mile services have been done. Since the car's got 67,000 miles it's something to look into. I don't think you should have any problem switching to synthetic most members here use either Mobil1, Royal Purple, or Amsoil 5W20 Synthetic
