Borla Installed Rattles????

I just had a borla exhaust installed on my 300c and it rattles like son of a B!@#$.... I took it back to where I had it installed twice now, and he says there is nothing he can do... My question is.. has any body else had any problems with theirs... I can't imagine that this is acceptable... and the rattling is driving me crazy....

It's too close somewhere - the exhaust shop needs to install it correctly....that, or you have a bad muff? Where is the rattle - against the car somewhere or in the system itself. They should be able to isolate it.

It should not rattle at all.

I going to guess that you did not have it done at a muffler shop. A muffler shop should be able to tack down any part of the system that is making contact with the body, in turn, causing the rattle. If thats the problem. If there is something loose within the muffler chamber, then thats a problem with Borla's quality control. Unforturnately, you would have to send the muffler back for an exchange and your out the money for the installation.
Have you or the shop determined exactly where the noise is coming from?
There is always something that can be done. Cecil........

My system had a rattle from the left rear side, right before the rear MDS muffler. The pipe that wraps around the trunk pan would rub when I had stomped on the gas pedal. I had the exhaust shop loosen up the rear two brackets. I leaned on the left exhaust pipe to push it left and slightly in. Than had the clamps tightened. Problem solved.

No I did not get it done at a muffler shop, I got it done at a so called performance shop....... It sounds like it is vibrating off of something, I guess I should just take it to an muffler shop.... Thanks

I've had my Borla on for 5 months with no issues. Agree with the other guys, either a bad muffler or install.

My borla had rattle issues also, I was too close at the spare tire well, the drivers side is routed very close to that, mine would rattle somethings somethings not, I finally had to have a shop put a tack weld on the pipe to hold it. Bolt tighting did not do it.

Had the same rattle in mine the pipe on the drivers side hit the trunk well. They just loosened up the connection and pushed the joint closer together. Runs great now.

Yeah, i have rattles with my borla system. Even had our borla rep look at it and try to fix it.. It hits on the spare wheel well, so annoying. Mostly happens when comming to a stop, or when MDS kicks on when going about 45 mph. I have it in the shop today to fix the problem, probally just going to take a hammer to the spare wheel well. lol.

Loosen clamps on drivers side , pull down on pipe by the spare tire well. Hold it down while you retighten clamps. I did this in Nov. , and have had no vibration since then. By the way, this system just keeps sounding better and better. Its much deeper and mellower than when I put it on.
