A catch can is a small container which catches suspended oil droplets in the air brought back to the throttle body via the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) line. These HEMI motors tend to aspire oil droplets and the catch can prevents such from dirtying the throttle body and intake manifold. There are some good picture threads around which show this.

Yes, you can use a 180 Tstat in your SRT8... have one if each of our cars. Assuming you adjust your fan settings to so that the cooler engine temps can be maintained in slow city traffic, you will have more power available (due to less heat soak) when you may need it in your daily driving. That could be somewhat problematic in ChiTown's winter conditions, but you'll really enjoy it in the warmer seasons!

Welcome to the forums!

Here is a good thread from EricG that shows what a catch can will do for you - In my oil catch can

And go with the tstat - cheap and easy, and your car will love the lower temp especially when you adjust your fans with a Predator, as Tim mentioned. This is the thread I was reading to get info on tstats before I got my Jet 180 - What does 180 Thermostat do for you?

Good luck.
