I have had a good relationship with my Chrysler Service Dept. and they enjoyed seeing my heavily Modded C for routine and other appointments with full support,...so thats why I trusted them to bring my car in after I installed Nitrous and blew up the engine, but this time there was no helping me, and I agree.

I was at the dealership today for a few things, and I thought I'd have a chat and bond with their service manager.

Intelligent guy. Hes been working at the Chrysler dealership for 21 years, 10 years as a tech/mechanic, and 11 years as their service manager- all at the SAME dealer.

So I asked him about wheels and suspension, as I am on the edge of getting a set. He said that they can't void my warranty just because they know I have a lowering kit. Along with that, he said that if I lower the car, the factory shocks should not crap out. He said if I get lowering springs from Mopar, and the shocks go out after x amount of miles or x amount of months, they will be more lenient as far as working on the car (warranty work) than if it was lowering springs from eibach, for example. He said its just easier to deal with it since its Mopar approved. Also, as far as the prooving thing goes, he said that they'd have to proove that the factory shocks gave out from lowering the car.

As far as him and I go, Im conviced that if I put Mopar springs on factory shocks, and if the shocks go out, I will be covered. However, Im not convinced on Mopar springs because they only lower you an inch.

this is obviously the bad thing about doing the chip. Jetchip has printed out the full disclaimer about how adding on aftermarket parts can only void your warranty if the service department can prove that the addition of the part caused the problem or failure. Trust me on this one.......if you show up at the dealership with the chip installed----and a problem of course----the service deparment WILL blame the problem or failure on whatever is not a stock(OEM) part. Best advice I can give anyone interested in adding aftermarket performance parts................get to know and become freinds with your service manager
Yeah, I agree with this one. All the dealer has to do is blame the mod and then it would be up to you to try to to disprove the theory. All they have to have to do is say "no" to any repair. They would not be obligated to fix anything unless you dragged them through court and won. On the other hand, there are service depts that just don't give a shizzle and will work on a modded car. I think that they look at it as a "no skin of my nose" type of situation. They bill for the "warranty" work without documenting any mods and nobody at Chrysler is the wiser. This would probably worked best with little problems though. Requisitions for burnt pistons or a split crankshaft would probably get the attention of some regional manager/ supervisor.

Hi, Very informative. You can add damaged PCM due to flash tuner corrupting the module also not being covered under warranty

I am in the midst of modding my 2007 300C.. Predator on the way and AFE 2 in the pipeline. I understand that I need to re program back to the stock when warranty repairs are done---However, I want an 85 degree tstat. Does having a colder tstat reduce engine life and or void warraty???
Thanks

That very same question was asked last night at the SRT Engineers chat session. Their words... "changing the thermostat effects the cal and the emissions...therefore the warranty is void if somethings goes boom" and "the Diablo will void the warranty"

Your choice I guess.

SRT Q&A Session: 3/12/08 @ 6pm - 8pm EST

Thanks Bernie--

If I change the stock tstat do I need to modify the cooling fan adjustments back to stock if I install a predator 91 oct tune? If so, what do you recommend as the settings?? I just received my predator and installed a modified stock tune i.e, egr off tranny shift points and firmness and increased rpm. I drove it after the tune and was extremely pleased that these few adjustments made such a difference. I would like to install the 91 oct no cai tune. Based on your input above and my lifetime warranty could be in jepardy, I will not install the tstat.---Thanks

Thanks for you help

I guess the bigger question is how your dealer is regarding mods. Some won't hesitate to void a warranty regardless of what it is. Others are more mod friendly, so the trick is to find one that is. They are out there. I certainly don't want to scare you from changing your t-stat. Many have done it without problems.

I can't answer your Predator tuning question because I don't have one. I'm sure there are plenty of knowledgeable people here who could though. One thing for sure is you can easily return your car to stock tuning before you take it in.

Thanks--I'll scout out my current service manager and ask him a few indirect questions and maybe I will be able to get a direction on these mods. Good info---thanks. I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!! And I just have a mild tune on it. The smooth power going into WOT is quite remarkable.

I wonder if the Predator voids a warranty... I mean if you program it, and then go back to car defaults, can they detect this?
