5 Star Dealer Experience

Went in for my second oil change yesterday and decided to take it to a local 5 star dealer. When I mentioned to the service rep that he be sure to have the tech use 5w-20 oil, he looked at me as if I was crazy. He mentioned they always use whatever is in the tank in the service dept which he thought was 10W-30. I then asked why the tech wouldn't be aware of what Chrysler wants in the Hemi, he answered by telling me that they would have no idea. I spoke with the service manager who indicated that he would use whatever I asked for but said it shouldn't matter what they put it. WTF
He assured me that he would get the individual qts from parts and show me the empty containers when finished. All I can say is if you don't ask, you can be relatively sure you're not going to receive what DCX call for.

Landed in Napa Ca last Friday. My lifelong pal who really IS Mr Goodwrench lives up here. I thought, let me see if I can get the Magnaflow catback and the mopar CAI while I am here. We could do the install at his GM shop. Went by a Chrysler Dealership on Saturday and went to the parts dept. I was VERY specific aboutwhat I drive and what part I wanted. After about 5 minutes of looking through catalogues etc... not finding the part (or part#) do you know what he asked me?

"You have a truck, right?"

I Kid You Not!

After some remedial instruction, in other words me schooling him about what an SRT-8 is (a small tank maybe, not a truck) he concluded that its the same part # as the 5.7. Hmmm. While that might be true, and he assured me that we could order it first thing Tuesday, and have it Wednesday. UMMM, I'll just take the part #. Bye.

I was in disbelief.

When I went to leave there was a small group hovering around my car. Salesmen, new car shoppers etc... One of the salesmen said that he had never seen one before and that they were still waiting for theirs.

With part # in pocket I left. Some how the ESP got turned off and I Lit my tires from a rolling start, with a flick of my right foot. WHEEEEEEEEEE!
