Climate Control

I noticed the climate controls and the sensor on my C are VERY warm to the touch. Not hot as in burning to the touch, but hot enough that it's uncomfortable to keep my finger on it. Everything seems to be working OK. Can someone check it out on theirs, just touch the panel between the climate control knobs and feel if it's warm after runing awhile.
The service dept. has replaced my radio, so the console has been removed. Maybe they did something to it when that happened. I'm really going to hate to take it back in. The service guy I'm dealing with is a real ass. Every time they have had it, there has been grease spots on the headliner, floor, seatbelts, etc.. Screwdrivers (2 different times) left on the seats. Gouged up the console panel when they took it off. They actually had the steering wheel on half assed crooked, and the guy thinks we're nitpicking or something. If I got to take it back in and he's anything but polite, I'm beating his you know what.
Sorry, getting all fired up and off the subject.
Can someone please check theirs and let me know? Thanks.

You don't need to put up with that kind of sloppy service. If your service writer can't straighten out this technician, see your Service Manager. IF he doesn't fix the problem, there is always the General Manager/Owner of the dealership. IF still a problem, call your Regional Rep (phone number in your Owner's Manual packet in the rear), that Rep will ensure the problems will be fixed. Just the threat of calling the Rep will get the GM/Owner moving.

Thanks Coolvanilla and Miles. Anyone else have a hot panel?
The service writer I guess is the title of the guy we are having problems with. My wife has been dealing with them because I work 10-12 hrs. a day lately. I called the service manager and politely asked her why we are having such a problem getting our car fixed, and returned to us clean. Also why this guy is acting like its our fault the work being done is less than acceptable. Get this, when we seen the gouges and the grease, this @#$% ##$%@ say's about the technician "Give the guy a break, he was in a car accident over the weekend and can't move around real well" I say to him "I'm sorry to hear that, I'm just letting you know there's a problem, and I don't want my car returned to me in worse shape then when I brought it in." After that I called the service manager and she said that she would talk the the guy at the right time,(whatever that means), get a different Tech. and would personally check the car out before getting it back to us. Well we finally, got it back all cleaned and everything working as it should (knock on wood) just took three visits and a call to the SM, not what I'd expect from a 5-star service center.
This whole experience has upset my wife so much, she was in tears one day after leaving the place and the car started shaking badly when she hit about 35 mph, (steering wheel on crooked). She has talked to DC and they apologized, but were surprised, as it seems this dealer has none, or very little compliants on record. They gave us a couple of other dealers to go to if we choose, which I hate to do because this place is close, and we bought it here. I don't want to have to drive 25 miles to another dealer for service, that can be done here.
I will try the regional rep. if there is any more problems, thanks Miles.

Hey SIXM

Customer service is the hallmark of a great company and your experience is exactly the biggest problem all American car companies and especially Chrysler have to overcome. DC has improved quality in production and has excelled in design but still lags in reputation which is a direct result of lack of service available. Five star MEANS NOTHING. Its nice to see when you look for a service center, however, we soon realize that 5 star is more of a marketing ploy than a real rating. How many 3 star dealers are there? How many Chrysler 0 star dealers do you see. They are all "5 star"!

Not true. Do a dealer search from the Chrysler website and you'll see who is 5 Star and who isn't. A search in the LA/OC area for me returns 25 dealers of which 5 are not 5 Star. Many of them take their ratings very seriously (others not so). However, I tend to think that most of their ratings are based on the purchase survey and not on follow up service. Unfortunately, many who are 5 Star in sales might as well be 5 turds in service.

I totally agree with you that service is probably the biggest problem with American car companies. Hopefully, as the quality of American cars continues to improve, so will the service.

As for the climate control, I doubt they messed anything up with it. The whole set of knobs is encased in a single sealed unit. When they remove the center console trim, the climate control stays attached to the trim piece and has two wiring harnesses that detach from it. Nothing really there for them to mess up.

Here is a Chrysler video about 5 Star.
http://www.dcxmediaservices.com/vide...ngFiveStar.wvx

5 Star is a big deal for a Chrysler Dealer and has been around since 1997.
It is a status symbol for a Dealer to be 5 Star.
If I was having problems at a 5 Star dealer regarding service, I would try to talk to the highest level person in management and describe my situation in relation to what 5 Star service should be, and whether he/she felt the quality of service was up to 5 Star standards. In other words, try to get your dealer to view your situation as an opportunity to respond in a 5 Star way.
My local dealer is not a 5 Star dealer. I havn't yet brought my car in for service, but hopefully they are seriously trying to obtain a 5 Star rating.
In fact, dealers seriously aspiring to get a 5 Star rating may be even more responsive than a dealer that has achieved the rating.

I've got nothing but great things to say about the dealership that I take my car to (O'Brien in Indianapolis). The folks treat me with respect and after the first oil change the service writter remembers me by name.

Do they send out surveys to fill out after a service visit. I only received the one after the initial purchase. My car has the dreaded significant right pull and they flat out told us there is nothing they can do as all the cars in that model do this!!!

Well, all the cars don't do it. I've had mine since May, and I never had the problem.

You can quote me and tell them to shove it, not to mention, fix it.
