I can't see the traffic light!

I have to crouch down in my seat to see the traffic light at a red light. My seat doesn't go down any further than it already does. Probably the biggest complaint with my car but quite frankly it's bearable. I'm suprised I haven't read to many other complaints about this.

I usually watch the side lights which are lower. Every once in awhile I usually notice when traffic starts moving

I wonder if anyone makes a little periscope that we could use to see traffic lights?

I'm only partially kidding... I'm thinking about a little piece of glass to put near the top-center of the windshield that bends the light just enough so you could see above the 'brow' of the car.

Optically, I know it's possible. I just wonder what it would look like, and how much it would cost...

We don't have those side lights in the US. At least nowhere I know of.

They are all over Europe to make it easy for the motorbikes to cut you off.

Newer traffic signals in Las Vegas have them. However, that doesn't help everyone else.

They had them years ago in Cincinnati, don't know about now. I tend not to pull up so close as to give a view of the light but close enough to trip the pavement sensor. The old SAAB 900 was very similar in this respect, anyone know what SAAB stands for?

SAAB (originally an acronym for "Svenska Aeroplan AB") was founded as a Swedish aircraft An aircraft is any machine capable of atmospheric flight.

Saab Automobile is a Swedish automobile maker, now owned by General Motors. Until 1990 the company was owned by Saab, which also included truck manufacturer Scania. General Motors bought half of Saab Automobile in 1990, with an option to acquire the entire company within a decade. Before exercising that option GM shared its ownership of Saab Automobile with Investor AB, the main owner of Saab.

Lightbulb

The traffic light issue is my only major driving experience complaint.

Back in the Golden Age of Automobiles, the 1950s, cars had this little glass prism thing on the dash for this very issue. It refracted the light so you could tell what color the signal was. I think it was simply called, "Traffic Light Viewer."
