How Do I Get MP3 File Info To Display?

I have successfully made an MP3 disc containing several folders (CDs) using Nero. When I play this in the 300 (with SG-II and NAV) I see the track name near the top of the screen, but the INFO bar near the bottom is blank. When playing MP3 files is there supposed to be track info displayed in this INFO bar at the bottom? I have used ID3-TagIT to edit the MP3 file info putting in the artist, track name, etc. But it doesn't show up on the radio like it does when I play the MP3 in Windows Media Player.

So far, my only work around in order to be able to identify the tracks is to actually make the filename (which is displayed on the radio) the full name of the track.

Can anyone offer any insight as to whether I am doing something wrong or isn't there supposed to be file info displayed in the info bar?? Thanks.

Not sure about this, but are you using ID3v1 or ID3v2? Some tag editing programs default to ID3v2 only and some car MP3 players don't read them. Might be worth a shot to check that out.

Hum......
I'm using Nero 6.0 and Bearshare and made a 100 track mp3. I have the 6 disc with sirius unit, no Nav. The info button will show the names of the tracks for me. I''ll have to check the settings. Will the Nav display show the names as a list as it does when you play the disc in a home DVD player on the Tv ? Nice if it does. Easier to find a song!

I use Windows Media player to create my MP3's and the burning software built into Windows XP and they all display properly.

kampsvilleboy,

Silly question, but have you pressed the INFO button on the top right of the NAV display?

My system displays title, artist, album, and genre with every subsequent push of this button.

I used ROXIO Easy CD creator to make my 100 song MP3 discs.

Here's what I observe so far, please correct me or ehnance this as needed.
For MP3 on CD-RW. Sound Group II, No Nav.
I use Easy Cd Creator to change the Title and other tags,
I'm not sure that Windows Media Player actually updates the tags the radio uses.
Songs play in FILENAME ascending sequence within FOLDER name ascending sequence.
You can jump to a new Folder with SET/DIR and TUNE buttons.
The Radio Display by default shows the Title Tag, not the FILENAME for MP3.
The Vehicle information display simply shows CD# and physical Track #.
Suggestions:
Folder Names-Start with 2 digit # w/leading zero,13char Max incl leading ##
Example: 03LedZeppelin (Use Upper/Lower case as separator)
FileNames- Start with 2 digit number w/leading zero, restart at 01 in ea Folder.
Title Tag- 2 lines show, 12 char per line,Use Upper/Lower and space as separator
You have 24 char total. Use EasyCD Creator to chg Title tag
No ## prefix needed on Title Tags. Use abbreviations, cAsE, and space properly.

Example of Title Tag: RideYourPony Lee Dorsey
Radio Display:
RideYourPony
Lee Dorsey

When you press SET/DIR:
The folders will show 2 at a time in ascending order 13 char incl ## prefix.

I have noticed that the first time I go to the MP3 disc as I use the buttons on the steering wheel to advance thru songs, they restart back at 01 in the playing folder after the last song in the folder. If I use the >> button on the radio it goes form the last song on each folder to the first song on the NEXT folder.
Now thereafter if I use the advance button on the steering wheel it goes from last song on one folder to first song on next folder. Strange Brew.

If you use the INFO button you can see the other "Tags" but they do not stay, it reverts back to Title Tag in a few seconds. Also the FOLDER name when it comes around in the INFO display will show much more than the 13 you see from SET/DIR, looks like about 32 characters or so.
It does not scroll automatiocally thru the Tags, you must press INFO repeatdedly to go thru the Tags.

Well, no that's not a silly question because it solved my problem. The info is there but I have to push the button to see it otherwise the info area is blank. I wonder why Chrysler designed the radio to require the user to push a button everytime to see something like the song title? It seems like it would have been so easy to design it to display some default tag info. I guess, as suggested, the best solution is to name the tracks like "01-Name of Song". Thanks for the help...

I have SG-II but no nav, when I go to the MP3 discs, my steering weels buttons will take me from the last song of one folder to the first of the next, also if I press the down key on the first song (twice) it will play the last song of the last folder.

I also notice that when I add more directoties or songs to the CD-R, the radio will NOT play them, I looked at the disk and there is a small separation between the first data copied and the second.
I have to copy every song that I want on a disk in one sitting !! (Is this normal?)

I know for the Satelite song/artist display info, the Info button only needs to be pushed once. Its an on/off switch. I wonder if this is different for MP3 info or if your switch is broken...?

Well I hope this helps. If you hold the Info button it changes the default view from track number to MP3 info. Mine keeps this view until I switch it back. Sucks that the MP3 Info does not scroll. Oh, I have SG-II wo/Nav. Yes the radio only shows ID3v1 info so make sure that your MP3's are all using this instead of ID3v2.
